MG4 Trophy LR
We’ve had our long range trophy for a few days now and overall I’m really enjoying it.

One thing I noticed today when trying to set up amazon music is that it is directing me to the settings to accept the GDPR terms and won’t let me log into my Amazon account.

When I go to settings to accept the privacy notice, I can see that it is already accepted.

I tried denying the terms and then accepting them again but every time I go to the music section of the infotainment and try to select amazon it redirects me to accept the terms again.

Another of the little software niggles that others have reported I suppose (like not saving settings like lka).

Has any one had the same problem and found a workaround for it?

Hi. I have a LR TC and unfortunately my Amazon music “ran out” after a month or so. MG are still working on a fix (says my dealer). I know this doesn’t directly answer your question but it may develop into this …. You’re doing well to have AM. Very jealous!

Is Amazon music included with the Trophy? When I took a test drive I was told it was for 5 years, but bought from a different dealer and can't find any information on that anywhere.

If it is, how do you turn it on?

As for the GDPR, try clicking accept even though it says it's accepted. My Dad said the same thing, but it instantly worked whatever I did and I recall it was that.

I emailed MG customer services:

A couple of questions about the "Live Services" (weather, traffic updates and Amazon music) that are included with the MG4 Trophy. Is there a limit on how much data is included? How long will these services be free?

They replied:
There is no limit - no subscription payment is due and we haven’t been given a timeframe if it were to ever run out...

But as ever with MG Customer Services the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

Odd as in the car it clearly shows that all Live/Connected Services are valid for 5 years from date of registration, and shows a clear cutoff date.

As for Amazon Music being Included... The Data Connection is but you still need an Amazon Prime or Amazon Music Account to sign into the web interface in the car to activate the link. Its in the radio section under online music, you sign in there.

I agree the license runs out on the date shown but it doesn't mean it won't be renewed but as I said with MG their left and right hands don't communicate.

Agree, although the way BMW and other brands have thrown their connected devices with 3G under the bus and not. upgrading any vehicles over 3 years old, I dont hold out much hope.

Think by the time the 4 is 5 years old and had a mid life refresh MG will see it fair game to declare it legacy and say use Carplay/AA if you want connected services.

I got to the bottom of why despite agreeing to the privacy settings I wasn’t getting the amazon music access.

It became clear that I was missing something when I got the same message when accessing the in built sat nav.

Although the privacy statement has a decline and agree button, and the agree button was selected, I hadn’t scrolled far enough down the page to see the toggle buttons for music, satnav, and voice.

All a bit embarrassing really.

Oooo. Which menu is this on?

It's not embarrassing at all , quite a few have done exactly the same ?

It’s in the main setting menu (swipe right to left from the main ingot tai menu page) and click settings in the bottom left.

Once on the settings page, scroll to the bottom of the items kn the right hand side and select privacy (or something like that).

You’ll then get the privacy agreement with the decline/accept buttons at the end…except that isn’t the end.

Click agree (probably already selected) and then scroll beyond and you’ll find the three toggle switches for music/satnav/voice.

They were all off in my settings (although I have reset to factory settings a couple of times trying to resolve other issues).

Unfortunately, the standard Amazon Prime music offering is now a complete waste of time. From offering a wide variety of different music it's not 'playlists' of similar music, with very little control over what you listen to - especially when offline (less of an issue in the Trophy I guess).
Really frustrating.

We noticed that as SWMBO often listens to Amazon Music (via Prime) in the kitchen. The girls got us the full Unlimited Amazon Music package as a Christmas present, so SWMBO is back to being able to call up whatever she wants to listen to. :)

Thank you. Mine was switched on.
I’ll await my dealer to install the all awaited update in January (fingers crossed as I’ve been waiting since July).

I must admit, even if a car has google, Amazon 'music', 'carplay', Android, I wouldn't know about it. When I drive a car I like to go into a zone and enjoy just driving, me and the machine.
I was very foolish (don't comment :) ) in that I thought most people were like that. More driving interest, less 'can I heat the steering wheel while I finish off my toast in the kitchen' sort of stuff.

Some times you want to drive, sometimes you want to get from A to B, sometimes you want to keep passengers happy.
