Another cable problem, or is it??

Hi there. Some water got into our charging cable a month back so the charger (Podpoint Solo 3). It errored and shut off, all good.

Subsequently ive dried the cable out and have tested it in other chargers; works fine.
I’ve used a friends cable on the charger and it works fine.

Podpoint say they have removed the error on the charger, but the combination of the charger and that cable still doesn’t work.

Is it possible the car has an error associated with that specific cable/charger combo?

I don't believe so.

I'd try cleaning the contacts some more with contact cleaner; make sure it's the kind that leaves no residue (so no RP7 or other water displacement oil based spray).

My wild guess is that both sides of the "charger" side contacts (cable end and charger outlet) are slightly high resistance; not enough to cause a problem with a good charger or good cable, but when used together, the total resistance is too much. I would guess it's the control pilot pin; the one with the shortest pin. It will also be the hardest one to get to, so whatever cleaning you've done so far may have been least effective on that pin or its socket. You might need to use a cotton bud (Q tip) to effectively clean that pin. Note that most of the pins have an insulating blob on the end, so the part you need to clean is behind that.

Thank you.

I spent a couple of minutes cleaning it with cotton wool and it now works again.

Thanks again
