Has anybody in Australia managed to get a space saving wheel and tyre for an Essence 64? Or has anyone tried the Audi A5 collapsable tyre idea?
I’m going outside reasonable ‘roadside assist’ distance in a month and I don’t fancy relying on spray foam kit!

Depends on your budget. I believe the Golf space saver fits. I have one (Mk V) but not tried it. One day...

Aside from a spare, I would carry a tyre repair kit (any auto store will have them) and your own inflator. I have one of those Ryobi battery powered inflators, works well and I use it to keep my tyres inflated.

If it's a nail/screw type of puncture (not sidewall) that you can identify then a tyre repair kit like that will do a good job, can be done without jacking up the car and keep you on the original tyre without need of all the gunk. The tyre may be still be perfectly repairable as well.

These guys have an expensive space saver kit option, although it says sold out:

Good advice, I’ve got those items left over from the old ‘ice’ car. The Braumach solution looks good too. I’m on the ‘probably very long’ waiting list. Our MG4 is in for ‘Tailgate adjustment’ today, plus other things and I ask them for a price on a new full size wheel. So we’ll see if thats an option.

Ordered. Should be here by Friday, will report back with pics. After the pain of the freight costs has worn off.

Well the Braumach spare wheel arrived today. It’s pretty big, but looks to do the job. I had a practice run at fitting. Don’t really want to find any problems on the side of the road.
And as ‘she who spends my pension fund’ does the packing, I think I just lost 1/2 my luggage allowance ?

Like this one ?
It’s about to be installed. Comes with a seat belt clip so she’s not going anywhere.

It’s off topic but interestingly I ordered this from a Ukrainian Etsy seller. Even through the trauma of war, they’re still making stuff and trying to exist. My mate at Qantas tells me the French are helping with extra flights via Paris to keep their exports going( only took 12 days to get to Australia). Paid well over, but was happy to help ? and it’s colour coded for my wife’s tangerine car ?

The wheels have come off! The packers having a nightmare! Now the dog has lost half her sofa! She not going to like that one bit ?‍?

Did you settle on a spot for the spare?

Would it fit behind one of the front seats, sitting upright like in this photo but resting on the floor? I'm just wondering about securing it properly if not in the rear luggage compartment.

We settled on behind the driver as in the photo. Did a proper job of securing with the seat belt plugged in, to stop the beeper going off. Filled the empty centre of the hub with the necessary tools and a charge cable. If it sits right it doesn’t leave a depression in the seat or door handle. Which left a nice square-ish space in the boot for luggage. On the floor behind the seats was too tight really.
