Hi all,

I’ve had my MG ZS Long Range for approx 2 weeks now and really enjoying it.

I’ve finally got the iSMART app working as the car is bound to me now but I’m still experiencing a few teething problems, which could totally be user error.

I’ve been charging the car from our EVEC wall box, charging fine and all scheduled through the charger app, but you may remember I posted previously about not being able to charge to 80% as I did not have the moveable dotted line on the battery screen. I didn’t speak to the dealer as I was waiting for the iSMART app, as was told you can do it there, but I’m either being incredibly thick or it just isn’t an option. I’ve attached a screenshot to show what is in my app, it’s just constant on long-trip mode.

Also, whenever I reset my accumulated trip total after charging, I’m still only being predicted approx 210 miles. Now that 210 miles actually works out at about 190ish for me, as the majority of my journey everyday is motorways (about 300 miles a week and 250/260 is motorway). I thought that on the long range when reset it was meant to show the 273?

Sorry if I’m asking some daft and obvious questions here, the dealer has not been particularly helpful. I’ve attached a picture of my battery (or what I’m assuming is my battery!!) to show it is long range (again assuming… I’ve been told it is)

If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

The picture is of the 12v battery. Can you see a label on the HV battery under the car?
Are you resetting both trip counters? When you read the GOM make sure you are in eco with fan, heater and A/C off.

Thanks very much for the quick reply. Can’t get under the car as it stands, so won’t be able to see that label.

Yes I’ve reset both the trip computers and I drive in eco and none of the climate control is on.

These are the tyoe of settings you should be able to have on the app if its long range

I cant set my app to charge to only 80%, it defaults to 100%
I charge at home using a 7.4kW wall box.
I know that one hour of charge = 13% charge into the battery.
I simply schedule charging for X hrs to take it to 80% , based on the charge level in the battery prior to charging

Unfortunately, so do I. Which I am very annoyed about as I have been told by my dealer and another dealer it was long range. Looks like some phone calls need to be made tomorrow.

does it say anywhere in the papers that they were selling long range? Best to email them so you have everything in writing.

Thanks for that, a good idea.

The calls are recorded, in which they confirmed it was long range and the advert stated long range. My POA is to call and then I follow up in email. Unfortunately if I do have to hand back, this will be the second car in a month. I had previously purchased a Kia Sportage, which in the first 48 hours had a broken Clutch Master Cylinder, which was fixed under warranty, then it developed 2 fuel injector failures, so it was handed back. I feel as if I am cursed with cars :)

well if it is from the same dealer, it's more likely they are cursed.. check price difference between SR and LR and get your money back if you like that car.
I think SR will be just fine for 300 miles per week (we are talking about miles, not km here?)
