I’m swapping to a private plate and wanted to ask if anyone can recommend the best way to remove the dealer plates on the car which have been stuck down with adhesive pads?

... a few bits of dental floss from poundland, B&M, home bargins et al. - the rear ones have propper 6mm (?) machine type threads built into the car.

I'd just ad. Heat the plates 1st with a hair dryer. Then use the floss and slice along the back of the plate. Sometimes floss is not strong enough. If that's the case, use fishing line. Then clean the glue residue with WD40. Then when refitting your new plates, clean with Meths or Alcohol.

.. or double up on the dental floss?
