It's right here:-

The voice icon used to appear on the screen as an option, but now it does not appear. I press the one on the steering wheel, however nothing happens?

Standard = Excite 51 = SE SR

Press and hold that button for a second or so to make Google respond. Only works when you have Android Auto running. (I assume the same applies for Siri/Apple Carplay).

I see you’re from Australia…

Is your car an Excite or Essence trim level?
And what’s your current software version?
Hi, model is Excite, software is SW131-29958-1100R05.
There are no updates pending.
I have tried holding the voice button but still no luck.

My model is the Excite, do I need to download Android Auto into my phone?
I have an Android phone

Depends how old your phone is.
If your phone runs Android 10 or later, Android Auto is built in, and should appear on the car's screen shortly after you plug your phone into the USB-A socket (the rectangular one on the left of the 12V socket).

I have Android 12, and nothing happens when I connect my phone to the USB socket.
A few things to check. You need to wait to plug in the phone until the car says "Ready".
After that your phone should say that Android Auto is running and available in the display. It should also appear on the display.
You need decent cable for this to work. It must be both a data as well as charging cable.
As noted it must be plugged into the USB A socket, not USB C.
What model phone is it?

Many thanks to you all for your persistence with this issue.
I have booked the mg into the service technician and will see what they come up with.

I have Android 12,
I have a google pixel 6 phone.
The pixel 6 shipped with Android 12 but over time has been upgraded to Android 15. Why are you not running it?
Do you update your installed applications?
You should.
Not updating your phone leaves it open to security vulnerabilities.
...nothing happens when I connect my phone to the USB socket.
Which USB socket and with what cable? Is it a Google Pixel cable or a 3rd party cable?

Have you used Android Auto in another car with this phone and cable?

One other thing... Have you already Bluetooth paired the phone to the car?

You shouldn't have to, to get wired Android Auto to run (it is required for wireless AA) but it might be worth trying just in case.

I'm asking these questions as the answers would be useful information for the MG service.

Hi, Thanks for pursuing this for me, much appreciated.
I have updated the phone to Android 15.
Android Auto is working on my phone.
Cable is 3rd party and it did work right up to two weeks ago.
Bluetooth is connected.
I checked settings in the car and it states connected.
