When I had my MG4 serviced. after the service, the car stank like a perfume factory. I found out that the replacement cabin air filter was sprayed with aftershave/perfume of some type. One thing I noticed is that there were two slots for air filters (one above the other), but I was only given one filter. After some research I found a replacement cabin air filter on Aliexpress, this was for two filters one dust filter and the other was a carbon filter.
It has made an huge difference to the air quality in the car. If anyone id interested here is the link for them.

I have been looking for a carbon filter, odd that it uses 2 different filters, normal to have 2 filters but they're normally the same
Does it say which goes where?

Hello,

I own an MG4, and I’ve been experiencing a recurring issue with the air conditioning system. Recently, I noticed a strong odor when turning on the A/C (cooling mode only). After replacing the cabin air filter, the smell disappeared temporarily. However, after leaving the car parked for a few days, the odor returned. It only lasts for a few seconds to a minute when I initially turn on the A/C, then it dissipates.

Upon investigating, I observed two air intakes behind the cabin air filter—one for external air and another for recirculated air. After some tests, I found that when the A/C is turned off, the default state of the system is to close the external air vent, effectively sealing the system.

To address this, I manually changed the air intake mode to pull in external air (with the A/C off), which did open the external vent. However, as soon as I turned off the car, the external vent closed again, leaving the air conditioning system sealed.

I suspect that residual moisture on the evaporator or radiator isn’t drying properly due to the system being sealed when the car is off. This might be the cause of the recurring odor.

Could this issue be related to the software version? I currently have R59.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and consulted a service center? Is this behavior normal, or should it be addressed?

I’d greatly appreciate any insights or advice.

Thank you!
I also bought them but after few days the car was parking the smell returned maybe someone has encountered this too?
