Completely agree! Goes against the Highway Act 1980 for starters.That's a definite No from the Councils - they will not allow anything to be suspended over the pavement. Do not try any form of logical arguments about it being safer than cables on the ground or Christmas decorations strung between buildings - they aren't listening.

Something similar already exists in The Netherlands, although I wonder whether the Yoof in the picture would have been tempted to swing on it - I would have been at that age.
As for cutting channels in a foot way, integrity of footway compromised, come a winter of freeze, then thaw from water ingress, results in even bigger potholes and more than we already endure (Plus potential of claims increasing).
also, as per pic above, imagine trying to route a cable in that modular paving with out causing a hazard? ?
