Nervously getting ready to go to work and collect the Camden today. Will really miss the 5SE, it’s been the best car I’ve had in years, comfy armchair, sleeper performance and less than peanuts to run. Can’t think why I’m getting rid of it but a spanking XP for a small deposit and a curry a month increase, will be great to have a top line MG instead of a base model. And one with proportionate wheels & tyres..
It’ll be my 5th SAIC MG, after 3 Style in lucozade, white GS Exclusive, red ZS Excite 1.5 and the Piccadilly 5.
This follows on from learning in a 65 Midget, owning a ‘72, copious BGTs, RV8 very briefly (!) full house of Metro/Maestro/Montego non turbos, ZT, ZTT v6 and Cdti.
And I inherited my dad’s ‘46 TC.
So there is a theme here, 40+ years of MG ownership preceded by growing up in them.
And I chose grey because many of my old ones were that colour 😊
Here goes!

Farewell 5 😢 (wheel covers in the boot, insanely hard to get off so they stayed off!)

God I forgot what a vast overhang it has. Not the best angle…

Deed is done, sad to leave the 5 but about 6 miles in with the 4. Still in eco mode. Will have a play on the way home tonight!
Pity that yet again, 3/3 cars from Waylands have been hopelessly prepped, rear 1/4 fake window flat, sticker residue on door jam, windows filthy inside. Given up moaning at them, will get it sorted myself asap.

Nice motor! Enjoy.

Proper colour, just peeking behind your old MG5. 😉🙂👍

Sadly I spent this morning scrubbing the glass, it was absolutely filthy inside and out as if it had been vaped inside. Sticker residue, limescale stain under rear wiper, can’t even say it was cleaned with a dirty rag. Had to return the 5 as it had nesting under the motor cover so don’t think I’ll be asking them to redo it!
Build date 3/24 so been sat around a while. Starting to notice small things - no netting on console, flat black trim on front splitter with carbon effect inlay? Speed limit stuck at 20 coming home. Main beam lighting up the sky, big dark patches in the beam. CarPlay dropping out and won’t connect today.
On the upside, lovely to drive, much firmer than the 5 and about the same ride as GS/HS but being lower down not so much chucking around of passengers/driver.
Had a tailgater halfway home so saw him off..
MG5 rubber mats kind of fit well enough, boot carpet a bit too big but will use it for protection and soundproofing.
Wife likes it and it matches her Aygo to a T, makes a nice combo!

I’m finding the ACC much more fiddly than on the 5 - that had 5mph increments, does the 4 not have that or am I missing something? Opposite side of the wheel for audio, limited choice of options for the hot key. I’ve set up a custom mode but even that doesn’t kill the pilot niggles.
Also finding the driver display very hard to read compared to 5, somehow more cluttered though I don’t miss the “power” meter 😊
It’s a much harder ride than the 5 but that was an exceptionally comfortable car, very nice to be in, but lacked the fizz of the XP.

Dealer phoned back after I sent a disappointing email with the prep concerns. Turns out 24MY deleted the gloss splitter/diffuser.. headlights can’t be adjusted for the beam issue.. “please drop it off and we’ll lend you a car while we re-valet it”. Bit of a faff with parking permits and not convinced it’ll be any better but will try next week.

Looks nice with the grey calliper covers. I was originally thinking about spraying them red on mine but after seeing the car, I decided to leave them. The orange actually doesn't look too bad on a white car, IMO of course.

What a load of rubbish, of course the headlights can be adjusted, if they're still too high after checking what @Tuareg said in the previous post, they can be adjusted on the headlight unit itself.
I thought it was a brush-off. I’ve scrolled the wheel already, the dip is fine and moves ok, the main beam is the one that’s too high. Third car from this dealer and aside from first service on the ZS I’ve not used their shop. Minded to go to WLMG Reading in future, though they are further from home than Waylands are from Work.

Depending of software you will either have 5mph after a long hold on the left hand steering wheel toggle and 1mph with a short blip or it will be the other way around, 5 mph with short blip and 1mph with long hold
