Can't disable tow mode

I have searched and have not found anybody else mention this.

I have a towbar fitted to my MG4 and when I connect my back rack with the 13 pin electrics the car automatically switches to tow mode. That is great, except it disables all drive aids including cruise control, which is madness?? The switch to disable is available (i.e. not greyed out) but does nothing when I try to disable it.

I don't really care about the driver aids, but cant be without cruise, I cover lots of miles with my bike with me and not having cruise is an issue for me.

Am I doing something wrong? Or do I have an issue?

I am in the Netherlands (if that makes any difference) and have had the car less than 2 weeks, so still learning how it all works. The car does have the latest software, as far as they tell me.

It could be something to do with stopping distances which for a couple of reasons need to be larger if you have the maximum weight of trailer.

Since it doesn't know if you have a bike or fully laden trailer it doesn't know the ideal adjustment to make in all cases, instead it gives up and puts the onus on you to keep the right distance.

Having the ability to turn the radar off but the rest of cruise control on in towing mode might be a nice alternative but I think changes in that area are unlikely.

You could try using the speed limiter in manual mode. It works very reliably but has a number of very irritating features that you'd have to learn to live with. You only see this option when cruise control is off.

Have you got the car in ready mode (pressed the brake pedal) when trying to disable towing mode?

Yes, I was already moving when I first realised cruise wasn't working. So I was actually moving when I first tried to disable it. I then stopped to try with no luck. I also turned the car off and back on just in case.
