CarPlay Adapter

Hi,
Wondering if anyone has been successfully able to get a wireless CarPlay adapter that actually works with MG3 Hybrid+.

I ordered two different types from AliExpress which probably work with other MG models as per the reviews but they didn’t seem to work on my MG3 Hybrid+.

Having a wireless connection would be really handy. Looking forward to any recommendations

I set it up in less than two minutes, works great.

It is very small, so you can plug it directly to the usb port without any cable.

Although it is no name, seems to have support, I did a firmware upgrade twice

Both of them did NOT work.

And what about Android auto?

Yes, isn’t there a one that supports both android auto and apple CarPlay ?
My wife has a Samsung Galaxy and I have a iPhone.

hello, I am French and new to this forum, I have an OTTOCAST U2 air pro only for Apple Car Play, ordered from their site, it works very well, takes on average 20 seconds to start, it supports 2 iPhones but not simultaneously .in case of problems I send a message on their chat and respond the next day.

to have Android and Apple, you need the U2 X adapter

I bought the ottocast Wireless 2 in 1 from Amazon (Germany), which is supposed to work for android and ios.
I use android.
It didn't work well after the very first trials. After leaving it in the car for a while it now works fine and the connection is really quick.

1. It is always a hassle to connect through the wire.
2. The wired connection to the car damages your battery in the longer run.

I don't agree.

The quadi unanimous opinion is that a WIRELESS connection drains and exhausts the smartphone's battery and is more prone to untimely disconnections.

Nothing beats a wired connection.

I agree with you, why an adapter? It's the work of a second to push the cable into the phone. And, like you say, it charges the phone as well.

I don’t really think plugging into a socket right next to a convenient storage place for the phone is too much hassle. From what I noted from earlier, finding an adaptor isn’t straightforward. If you don’t charge, you will still use the power and that would have to be replaced by charging. What’s more, the phone battery will go completely flat if you are using CarPlay navigation for any length of time.

Hi all, I use a wired connection without any hassle and carplay works fine. The only downer is that if you need to use any of the car systems you have to press the home button to get back out of Carplay. Be better if they were both on screen. Or can this be done?

That's a very good point.

However, when I had my Honda Jazz it was exactly the same problem.

So I don't think it's possible.

How did you manage to connect it?
I ordered exact same model also using iphone
Bluetooth connects but no popup for carplay.

Wifi doesnt auto connect i have to manually enter the wifi password but that doenst help either.

Also tried connecting thru the carplay menu on iphone
Ottocast shows up there ask for the connection code but then keeps spinning for minute ending up in no connection

Wired carplay works perfectly on the same phone.
Also tried girlfriends iphone does the exact same thing…

We use the Carlinkit UHD which can be set to Android Auto or Carplay connection type and also brings a complete Android system to the screen and you can also connect Android and iPhone wirelessly. Here is a video of me in the ZS Hybrid+

Don't wanna end up buying another one.
The Ottocast is 3th one i bought now (as I read a few people have them working).

I tried 2 generic ones from local store as well; they didn't work either.
But they work fine in a Citroen C3 2022.

The MG3 infotainment system just seems to be a hit or miss.
