Wireless CarPlay Adapter connectivity

Have you deleted your phone from the car's Bluetooth? I watched a video of a chap having connection issues until he deleted his phone and just connected straight to the adapter.
I've got to say that I bought an Android Auto adapter from Amazon, picked up my car last week and haven't connected to the cars Bluetooth, just the adapter bluetooth and I have had no issues, Android Auto starts everytime.
With the adapter, I can do everything like maps, texts and calls etc without connecting direct to the car.
Have you got a dash cam connected to your phone?

I have just setup an Ottocast with a usb line with an on/off switch for Apple CarPlay. Works perfectly, thanks for posting your suggestion. Pretty cheap option from eBay …just has to have data & power.
Also, I got this one :)

I have just discovered that some USB sticks plugged into the right-hand USB-C port (using a USB-C to USB-1 adaptor cable) can stop Apple CarPlay (either via a lightning-cable connected to the iPhone OR using a Carlink 5 adaptor) from working.
I went through the dozen or so cheap/trade show freebie USB sticks I have music stored on in my MG4 SE/LR and discovered two that will consistently stop the left-hand USB-1 port from working correctly. Tugging the offending USB stick will start CarPlay working immediately.

where do i find factory settings to input 4545 please

had the same issue always had to replug after 30 seconds from infotainment boot, ended up replacing with an carlinkit and setting a 30 second delay to startup and she works perfectly.
Hi, How do you set up a delay to startup Please

On a slightly similar subject.....

I am using a Carlinkit 5.0 which works fine and no complaints. However, it will not allow me to charge my phone at the same time using any other outlet. Apparently as soon as I plug the phone in it drops the wifi link to the wireless adapter and won't reconnect even if I try manually.

Any ideas anyone?

That sounds like a phone problem? 🤷‍♂️

This depends on the device - read the instructions. Probably you plug the adapter into a power source (not the USB A port in the car), connect to the adapter's WiFi network on your phone/laptop, open a browser and navigate to the adapter's home page (192.168.x.x - the instructions should tell you). In that page there should be an option to select a startup delay time.

My wireless adaptor connects to my phone via Bluetooth not Wi-Fi. It sounds like your phone is prioritising the wired connection over the wireless.

With my adapter it uses both Bluetooth and WiFi, BT for the initial sync and then WiFi for continuing use. I presume that's why I can also have my phone BT connected to the car without issue, although it'll prioritise AA for calls rather than the BT connection to the car.

Note: if I have my phone plugged in for power it is plugged into a USB power adapter fitted into the 12V socket, not to the USB C port. (USB A port has the adapter plugged into it, obviously). :)

Hi everyone, new around here. Had my MG4 SE version delivered last month and so far I’m loving it, no problems at all. It’s my first EV and has been such an amazing EV to start off with.

My only minor annoyance was the fact you have to plug your phone in each time to get CarPlay to work, I’d have thought that in this day and age we could simply get in and go and not have to faff around with cables.

I bought a wireless car dongle from Amazon to try and combat this issue but having a few issues. Works flawlessly once connected but as soon as I lock the car and it powers off and re enter a few minutes later I get the animation start and the CarPlay doesn’t connect, I then have to unplug the usb and plug it back in and it’s connected wireless again. Which defeats the purpose.

Might be worth noting that if I get out for a split second and get back in the screen loads instantly and doesn’t do the whole animation (is there a way to turn the animation off does anyone know?) my guess is once it’s done a complete shut down it loses the ability to connect.

Just thought it would be worth posting to see if anyone knew anything else I could try before sending the thing back?

Thanks in advance!

Jacob
Hi, I get exactly the same issue. I have an MG4 SE and the Apple Car Play converter worked perfectly on first set up but since then, every time I get in the car, it does not connect automatically. It is very annoying, I have never had a Bluetooth device that has been set up to not connect automatically when you are near the device. I think it must be the infotainment system software that is preventing the connection.

As has been said hundreds of times (probably not exaggerating) ... set a start-up delay in the adapter; 30 seconds seems optimal. This allows the car to boot up before the adapter boots up and so minimises the chances of the adapter not being able to talk properly with the car. :)
