Charging 10%-100% every 3-6 months

Why? If you have Octopus IGO they clearly state that if the charge exceeds the low cost period they will only charge you the lower rate.

The object is to do a continuous charge from less than 10% to full to calibrate the battery.

If you plug in earlier than 6pm Octopus tend to split the slots e.g. 4pm to 6pm then 8pm to 4am as there is generally more use in the peak times.

It's not about the cost it's ensuring no breaks in the charging.

Quite a few people in this thread have said there shouldn't be a problem with breaks as long as you don't drive it between charges.
If what you say is true then I need to go and get rid of 7% again.

It may not be a problem having breaks in the slots - no idea really!

Received wisdom is that the <10% to 100% and balance charge (to recalibrate the BMS) should be done in one continuous charge. Whether there's any documentation to backup this theory I've no idea.

Nice schedule today.

Do you think a Bump Charge at 18:30 would be wise?

Having read up on this I think it does need to be a continuous charge. It's about hysteresis curves.

The car needs to sit for a couple of hours at the low charge (Mr Just Get a Tesla says overnight) then go to 100% in a single AC charge, then balance.

So how did your charge look on the Myenergi app?

Before I went to bed at 23:30 there was 32% to go which meant it should all be charged by 03:00 so I didn't Bump it.
Amazed to see an extra 30 miles on my display this morning.
Over winter it's been showing around 160 for 80% so around 200 for 100%.
This morning it was on 30 miles extra and we always drive in ECO so that gives at least another 10.

Thanks

Your plot shows that Octopus have done some brief pauses in the charge schedule and also it hasn't done any sort of balance charge when it cut it off just before 4am - that's why I hit the bump charge after 23.30 as it stops Octopus taking control!

If you look at the plot of mine on post 173 you can clearly see the balance charge from about 5.10am to just before 7am

OK I'll do it next time but it has given me 30 miles extra now so it did something.

Can you put the zappi onto fast charge mode and plug in till it's done, I don't think Intelligent Go will override the zappi in that instance. It's the zappi in control. Maybe I'm oversimplifying.

What evidence does he give for overnight? I have my doubts and suspect that 2-3 hours would be sufficient. Overnight takes an already onerous 10-100% routine and makes it an inconvenience for people that use their cars. I note that MG don't feel the need to call out letting the battery fall into a settled state in their brief guidance for calibration charging.
