Yes, get a three phase 32A Type2 cable for the MG4 - 5m is useful. I have a 3m and it's fine for most chargers but occasionally you need longer. So go for 5m if you can. Our original ZS EV from 3 years ago also didn't come with a Type2 cable (just the granny charger) so this is not new for MG. I also think it's a bit mean when you're paying circa 30K for a car, but there you go. Kia supplied a Type2 cable with my e-Niro, but only single phase, where the car can support 3ph (11kw) so "close but no cigar!"

Agree mate just took delivery of a brand new Discovery, took a year from order to pick up, he went to pick it up and said the salesman actually said to him "it's fine if you want to change your mind, I can sell it for more tomorrow"

A word of caution about purchasing a 3 phase charging cable as it may not deliver the charge you expected from a single phase supply.

Important Note About 11kW Cables: 11kW cables (3 Phase, 16A) are not usually ideal as a general
charging cable in the UK. This is due to the fact that most EVSE (Charge points) in the UK are single-
phase only. This would cause your 11kW cable to charge at 1 phase, 16A which is a 3.6kW charge rate,
the slowest you can get! Most users would benefit more from a 7.2kW charging cable or the heavier
22kW charging cable.

Yes, you are good, the Tesla type 2 lead is a good option, its both 3 phase and 32 amp the 2 key elements for LR owners. Get 11kw on 3 phase and 7kW on 1 phase. Not sure why you would buy anything else, unless you need longer than 4m, or were really worried about the weight or stiffness of a 3phase lead.
SR owners may choose something else if they are worrying about a few ounces of weight or the flexibility of the lead. At £85 the price is difficult to match.

I see 2nd hand dubious cables selling for more than that on fleabay. I’ve also seen a Tesla cable advertised for £100!

Not sure how Tesla do it, I see the individual plugs go for £40.

Having a 3 phase cable is no doubt useful as it can still be used to charge from a single phase charger.
The article in - EV Charging Cables & Connectors For Electric Cars | EVCables.co.uk clearly shows that the cable will work in both three phase and single phase chargers but makes the point that there are few three phase chargers in the U.K. and when the cable is used on a single phase charger (most in the U.K.) are single phase, the charging rate will be at its lowest - 3.6kW.
It is better to have a single phase cable rated at 22kW, 5 or more metres long for the best all round usefulness.

Not sure your point, many of the post above are clear on this. The Tesla lead is 32 amp 3 phase 22kw, as it 32amp it will give 7kw on single phase. And it's cheaper than many 32amp single phase leads so little to lose. Other than 1m that is very rarely needed in my experience, you may have a different view with the charge port location.

Much as home charging will be single phase 7kW, out and about quite a few are 22kW and LR owners will get 11kW.
SR owners will only ever get 7kw as the onboard charger is limited.

The description about the 3 phase cable only giving 3.6kW on a single phase charger is referring to a 11kW 16A 3 phase cable. A 22kW 32A 3 phase cable will give 7kW on a single phase charger. They are making the point as they sell both types.
A a 22kW 32A 3 phase cable is definitely useful for LR/Trophy if you happen to have any suitable chargers around. I'm in Scotland at the moment and lots of the chargers where I am are 22kW.

Got to agree quite a lot of the Charge Place Scotland chargers are 22kw, definitely worth having a compatible cable.
My Megane will take the 22kw so it's a bit of a bonus having the charge place Scotland chargers, especially how reasonably priced they are

Our dealer asked me what cable I wanted. You can choose between either the Type 2 or 3 pin plug but not both.

You need to download the Tesla App (App Link GPlay Store) and login/create an account.

Once you have and are on the main page scroll down to the bottom and Click on Tesla Shop.

Within there Click on the Stay Charged image

And then the Type 2 cable is under On the Road section if you scroll to the right.

If you do it on the website supposedly it checks if you're an actual Tesla Owner but on the app it doesn't as you can have the app without being a Tesla owner due to them opening up the network for charging non Teslas.
