Charging Issues

I've just had a new consumer unit (fuse box) installed complete with surge protection as now advised by the latest regulations.
I'm wondering if there was a spike in the power grid that's caused the CCUs to become faulty especially as it seems a random occurrence.
We're seeing CCU failures across different makes (common 3rd party suppliers?).

It could be this, although they should be engineered to cope with a wide variety of circumstances.

My thinking is that they've got a bad component in use that isn't up to snuff and it is most likely this that has had to be replaced.

We can but speculate.

Update on post #17 - New CCU fitted on Thursday, at the same time as my first annual service (cost £67). The car now charges again perfectly on AC, it was charged today to 80% all from solar energy...........result!

Hi All, a weird one I have encountered this week. My MG4 charges at the standard 7kW on my domestic charger and until recently was charging at the standard 7kW at the chargers at work. For some reason the car is only charging at 3kW now at work but still 7kW at home. I am the only EV this is affecting. I have swapped charging leads but the speed has stayed at 3kW. Other cars are charging at between 3-7kW. When I try other chargers at supermarkets & in garages I am not encountering any issues. Just at the work charger! Has anyone ever encountered something like this before?
Hi, did you ever solve this issue? I use an 11kw charger at work and only get 3.2kw. I took the car back to the garage and they found several fault codes, so updated the software, but this has not fixed the issue.

Hi, in my mg4 standard is charging just 83kwh with CCS2 after i update at R33 and not at 88kwh. Someone has my same issue and know how to resolve the problem? Thank u

It depends on how much charge the battery has in it already, the charging rate falls as it goes over 80%

What was the battery temperature? What was the ambient temperature? What was the state of charge?

Charge rate depends on a lot of factors as @fnegroni implies. It won't always be the same and will vary depending on SoC.

That's only a small difference. If you are saying that it never gets up to the higher rate any more it might be that MG made a change to the charge curve with an update, but I don't recall others mentioning this with the SR.
