Charging port

I have recently got my brand new MG4 Trophy, i definitely like the changes to the Phase 2 over the Phase 1.
However i noticed something strange
when charging, the charging port in the phase 1 loan car i drove had 7 pins but my new 1 has only 5 pins, can anyone explain because the dealership has been no help

I don't think it was a mistake and I know for certain the Australian spec'd vehicles are advertised as 11kw 3 phase
The EU models are also specced as 11kW ... but the UK models (we're in the UK remember, as is the poster who asked the question) were always supposed to be 7kW, but Phase 1 LR cars came with 11kW capability, either in error or because it was easier/quicker/cheaper at the time (pick one/several) for the factory to make the LR models all the same way.

PS - your reply above relates to non-UK models so is entirely irrelevant - even though it supports what @Leni16 and I are saying! (It states that only the ER / 77kWh car supports 3-phase 11kW charging). Plus we know for a fact that UK Phase 1 LR / 64kWh cars came with 3-phase 11kW charging - we've seen too many people mentioning theirs having it for this to have been an occasional mistake in the factory. But per the UK spec sheet they shouldn't have.

It's never a boring day owning an MG!
You are right in what you are saying though, 22kw AC are pretty common, especially up here in Scotland with chargeplace Scotland.

They are quite a bit cheaper and other benefits are that they don't have 40 minute limits on them and are better than fast chargers for battery health, they are ideal if you are going for a meal etc and aren't in a rush, if your car does charge at that speed

22kW EVSE unit are Fast chargers, Rapid chargers can put the cells of a battery out of balance so you should battery balance once a month

Yeah I know, was meaning more about AC and DC, should have clarified.
Point still stands though 22kw is still better for battery health.

You should still be able to pull 7kw on a single phase connector from a 22kw EVSE - in fact, depending on how busy the site is and how the supply heads are distributed among chargers there are plenty of scenarios where a single phase will charge as fast as a 3-phase due to the way they load balance across the phases.

Every time I've used a 22kw charger it's pulled close to the 22kw, it's never dropped much at all even when the site is busy

yes I just checked that info sheet too as I am waiting on my Long range 77 to arrive in Australia. I bought the 3 phase MG 11kw wall charger so it better be supported! Note in the specs that it seems to be a battery type / size variance as the 51kw and 64kw are only single phase 6.6kw it would seem.
Having said this the spec sheets could be wrong as we have been finding errors particularly with paint colour options. Basically people have ordered non white (std flat ) colours which costs $700 more and they are all listed as metallic... However only the Red, Black, silver and Grey are actual metallic. The Orange and blue are actually flat. When I get mine I will let you know what plug adapter the car has on it.

I have the Aussie MG4 long range 77. I get about 9kw from the 22kw chargers at IKEA.
