Assuming the MG3 Hybrid + has the same ACC features as the MG5, there is no normal cruise control.
Speaking personally, although like you, I wanted to NOT have ACC when I first bought my car, I have since come to realise its value!
Because it responds, (sometimes slightly alarmingly!) to traffic and potential "blockages" on the road ahead, I find that the level of interaction I need to have with its controls is considerably less than with "normal" CC! I tend to set its speed at whatever is suitable for the road, or at least obeys the speed limit, and then let it "decide" what speed and distance between me and "the car in front" is appropriate.
Yes, it does take some getting used to but, IMO, is well-worth the effort.
