Cyberster - what we know so far

The Cyberster is at HOME !

Had a nice handover today. I will post some pictures after the report .

First, the car is insane. The acceleration is breathtaking in the real meaning of the words. Definetly nothing for unexperienced drivers.
Cornering is very good. You can position it exactly where you want to have it. Interesting is that in cornering it feels stiff but on a bumpy straigt it feels a bit soft. Seats are excellent with good support at the sides. No car for tall people though. That is the only thing some of the youtubers are right. Most other points they raise are not true or meaning less in a Sports Cruiser.
I am very happy with my decision to go for the CYBERSTER. No regrets what so ever and I bought it without test drive and coming from sport cars.

Displays: You can easily see the navigation on the left side, very little blocked by the steering wheel. Considering the amounts of displays everything is very tiny to see and to read. You better look on the street anyway.
We drove out from the dealer and we were stopped by the police after 15 minutes, we drove another half an hour and were stopped by the police again. I wonder why???? I was not stopped in Thailand in the last 10 years. They all took pictures of course.

Display can be set to English, some funny translation. Disconncted means it is connected for example, but you figure it out. Everything else all in Thai, Warranty, Manual and so on. There is an on board English pdf manual, but it is far too small to read. I am sure it will be all ready in English when it is the UK delivery turn.
Maybe one of our UK friends here can post a link from one or the dealers to an English manual???? Please Please
What is annoying? The doors by all means. Look cool but super unpractical as expected.
My Android Auto was most of the time disconnected. Tried different cables, same problem. Never had this on any other car.
Voice commands is in Thai, there is a Thai Voice talking to you all the time when you enter the car and I could not figure out how to switch it off.

Most anoying: You can switch off all this departure warning and speed warning and so on, but each time you start the car it is back again. Grrr
I could not find a 12V socket yet for the Dashcam. Actually I expected it to be in the system somewhere as it has so many cameras. My BMW has it, but it is pretty useless as well.
Left Center Console display very sensitive. A slight touch and you change your a/c temperature without noticing.
Telephone compartment is too small for my Samsung Ultra. Guys, you need to buy a smaller phone.
All I mentioned here are absolutly not important things and willl not take away the peasure of driving and owning this thing!!!
i Smart could not connect. Could bind the car to the app, next time I open the App it tells me to bind the car. Than I bind the car and the app tells me already a car binded. Well, it will be figured out soon or later. I guess a little software glitch on the server in BKK.
Keep in mind me/we are the very first to have hands on the car. So no complains.

What came with the car:
2 foot mats
1 VTL cable with multiple sockets, great
Tinted window film not 3M,
1st year insurace, very low coverage and the covered value of the car is right away 20% down, but that is normal in Thailand.
1 granny charger
No more

I think the post is far too long now.

Conclusion: A very happy Cyberster owner on the first day and I am sure more to come.

Enjoy the pictures.

... one more thing: Consumption seems good, it shows 22.1 Kw for 100 km and please consider my first drive today was "spirited", twisty costal roads up and down hill.

Appreciate the summary. Thanks a bunch. The connectivity instability aspect was anticipated. The lack of a memory when disabling ADAS features and the original settings return will indeed be frustrating. Was the dealer staff very helpful with knowledge of the various controls or functions? I suspect not very helpful. Nice job on providing everyone a first hand initial experience. Mine gets delivered July 30 following the launch cocktail party (which apparently is only for me and one other guy). Very pleased to hear you're overall quite enthusiastic and add a counter report to some of the misguided youtube reviews. Enjoy!

Wow.

You will no doubt be inundated with questions. So I’ll start. I saw a review which suggests the doors will only open with power if the car is level. Any slight incline means you need to manually assist them. Can you comment on that?

Car looks amazing though. Congrats.

My sales man does not speak English, we communicate via Google translate, so NO no explanation about the car at all. No problem for me.

Interesting, I will try tomorrow to find an incline.

Exciting times for you guys in Thailand. The less people the better makes it feel more special. Free V2L is a nice touch. Samsung phone is large but still.. Do you think local Thai language will be available eventually? Nothing a patch cant fix right for pairing android auto, adas memory settings etc. Im sure those can be addressed if it becomes an issue. Some things will take time to figure out

Stunning, somehow your pictures of it make it look even better than the press pics seen so far. Enjoy it. :)
Thanks, I tell my wife who did the pictures on her Samsung phone

Hallo,
can you tell us how high the open doors are?
many thanks!
Stefan
It was set to 83% and that reflects to 192 cm from ground

I found a quick access to switch off the LDW and speed warning. At least something.

Tire pressure is still set to 45 psi delivery pressure, dealer did not adjust.
I will lower it.
There is no function for the engine noise shown on the demo cars. It is off and I like it that way.

It's at 9 mins 55.

That is the guy comparing a 2 seater roadster trunk with a Tesla Sedan trunk, is n't it?

Thanks for the report and enjoy your car!

It sounds like a similar experience to the launch of the MG4 - several software issues to be solved by future updates, not everything finished for launch (manual took a while to appear on the MG website).

Worth trying an Anker braided cable for Android Auto, this has worked for some as a solution on the 4.

Not surprised the doors are a bit annoying - is it the speed or the whole idea of scissor doors?

I think I understood you about the side screens: you are saying they are not too badly obscured by the wheel but are too small especially to read the manual text?

what we know so far .... update and answers on your questions
Keep in mind all I say is about my in Thailand delivered Cyberster.

Speed of sissors door is slow up and down is more than 10 seconds. Let it rain (monsoon) and you can replace your nice Bose speakers and all other electronics in the door if it is not IP 67 waterproof. Haha
As well the handling of the doors. It will take me years to get used to the opening buttons in the middle console instead at the door where you naturaly turn to. To be corrected in the first face lift.

Concerning the screens you understood right. Placement is o.k., not super great but o.k. but all is so tiny from map to fonts and map is still the biggest. You can not zoom or make bigger.

now the update:

I got ismart installed finaly. After binding the car I had to uninstall the app and re-install and voila the car showed up.
Not much to operate though, but you can see your leftover range and state of charge. For us in Thailand very important to pre condition the cabin and switch on the a/c. Works fine. In the moment we have 36 degree C, and in the cooler times 33 Celsius. You experienced MG owners know these things anyway.

Used another "cheap" cable and now AA works 90 % well, but I learnt that I will not need it anyway. The cheap cable works better than the expensive one. A bit strange.

Google Maps is on the car based on the MG SIM card.

.... and now it comes.

There is a free of charge music streaming service Joox installed. I got it up and running in no time. If I use Spotify through AA or Joox through the car does not really matter. I go for Joox. I have to do a couple of new playlists than. The good thing for guys with data limit is that you are not using your data, but MG's.
I am wondering if this service will be installed in the Europe Version. Joox belongs to Tencent. Most of you will know.

USB stick with Music dedected and working according to plan, but now obsolete due to Joox.
The constant connection to the net is disturbing on the other hand.
What are they doing with all the datas, knowing every speeding and parking violation and so on.
I would give up all the fancy nonsense if I can get an old fashion SIMless car.

No 12V socket dedected. A dashcam need to be powered up through the USB ports or hard wiring.

I believe there is not much more I can let you know.
