Felt like this would be a good closure post for this thread

Today was the big day! After ordering all that time ago in February, it took a bit longer than anticipated to eventually get the car for obvious reasons. The wait has come with it’s advantages though as it means my fresh experience with the car is with the comfort 2.0 update etc... and I’m so happy to say the wait was well worth it. Additionally so because we test drove the Excite but ordered the Exclusive so that combined with the software updates have made it feel really special.
I ordered fro Fasers of Edinburgh, who have been fantastic. Ended up collecting from Frasers of Falkirk as the Edinburgh branch hadn’t fully opened as of yet, but distance wise there’s not much in that really. Frasers of Falkirk were just as fantastic and even let me keep a rather nice MG pen
The car was actually ready for collection on the very weekend that the 5km travel restriction was lifted which could have been awesome! But unfortunately it took longer than expected for the funds from the Scottish Transport Loans agreement to come through (which I’m so pleased with that deal - 0% over 6 years), so we delayed collection by a couple of weeks.
Falkirk to Aberdeen was showing as 120miles on the sat nav and I know that the cars range should be around the 160 area when fully charged (Which it was) so I thought that was quite a good first journey distance. Hoping to make it in one go, but no biggy if not as there are plenty of chargers on the way.

Always love seeing the odometer reading <10 miles, and glad it was fully charged.
Stopped off at the Falkirk Wheel for a picnic we’d taken with us, stretch the legs then head back up the road.
This is the first car I‘ve had Apple CarPlay in and I absolutely love it, so clear, easy to use, and the screen is nice and responsive (Noticeably improved from the test drive). Set directions for home: 3hours and a couple of minutes, 126 miles I think it said.
Absolutely loved the car instantly, it’s a complete joy to drive and i love the silence, or even the quiet electrical whine.
My thoughts from the journey
11 miles remaining! cutting it a little bit closer than I was foreseeing, but it is quite a hilly drive (with minimal regen as I mostly used cruise), glad I was in Eco though.
it’s now on the granny cable and showed 7% on connection. Actually quite impressed with how quickly it’s charging on the granny though as in the time it has taken to write this, it’s up to....actually I don’t know as it‘s now only saying Connected but not charging, doh! I’ll figure that out, it was over 10% when I last checked though.
EO Smart Home Mini to be scheduled for install, and now with Octopus for energy.
Very happy and looking forward to electric adventures!

My thoughts from the journey
- I kept flashing my headlights while trying to cancel and resume cruise control! ?
I’m sure I’ll get used to this and select the correct stalk in time, but I had to giggle at this. The cruise control stick is below the headlight stick, and you have to push away to cancel cruise, or pull towards to resume: which of course on the upper stick flashes your lights.
- I knew this already, but it was still a disappointment that there’s no regen when using cruise control, hopefully this is something that can change in the future.
- Lane assist is still too sensitive, it’s like it’s designed for much wider roads as you have to keep it ultra accurately in the centre of the lane otherwise it warns you, although at least now the bong is more subtly. At least it is quick and easy to disable with a dedicated button on the stalk - I disabled it pretty quickly.
- Absolutely love the adaptive cruise control. I actually found myself driving more slowly and more relaxed and instead of pulling out when approaching another car, just letting the car match its speed and staying there. It works really well.....apart from if the car in front pulls off into a slip road as my car freaks out and and rapidly decelerates, don’t like that much.
- Love the blind spot indicators built into the side mirrors! I didn’t even know they were a feature, I just caught one blinking out the corner of my eye as a car approached to over take and was pleasantly surprised by this - they work really well.
- as above, the screen and apple play are considerably better than I was expecting.
