Hi all,

Delivery day is almost here, I’m all excited. It’s coming all the way from South Shields on a flatbed and they are taking our two current cars away in PX. I’m not expecting that much of a handover, as it will be a delivery driver coupled with social distancing etc. Hopefully they will be here before darkness descends.

I have a few questions which would be great to have answers for in advance:

1) How do I know if I have the comfort 2 upgrade. I’ve been assured it will have - but it would be nice to check somehow.
2) What’s the situation with the handbrake as it’s electric? Does it self apply and auto release, I’m hoping so.
3) How upto date are the maps on the Nav system? They’ve just opened the new eastern bypass around Lincoln, yesterday in fact. Irony has it that the Volvo map already has it on - but the bloomin car is being taken away tomorrow.

That‘s it for now. I’m also having my Zappi installed tomorrow, so lots of tech for me to play with.

Cheers - Rob

1. GOM range in bottom left of centre cluster.
Also temperature top right of infotainment system.

2. It electric but kinda acts like a normal handbrake when in drive. When moving from park to drive it does release if brakes pedal is pushed or drive to park it does self apply.

Also you do have auto-hold which can be turned on, which uses the normal brakes, and will hold the car in place until acceleration is applied.

3. Pass. Use android auto and Google maps or waze.

Pretty much what’s been said above! Never use sat nav - always use apple carplay. Oh, and enjoy the car. I’ve had mine for just over a month and love it. Saving a fortune.

You can update the satnav yourself via this website - it's all legit. You download their software on to your PC, stick a FAT32-fromatted USB drive into your car, go into the satnav options to put a "fingerprint" onto the USB drive, then put the drive into your PC and the software wll say if there's an update or not. If there is, it downloads it to the USB drive, and you then follow the instructions on your satnav to update the maps.

A word of caution - some people, inlcuding myself, have maanaged to brick their satnavs doing this (rest of media centre still working for me) and have had to rely on Naviextras supplying restore files. Infuriatingly, they are no longer offering support for this!

Another word of caution - there is a strong likelihood that if you do brick your satnav, your dealer will have no idea how to fix it and will blame you for downloading unofficial files, when in fact this is the MG-approved way to do it (my dealer had to phone MG Towers to be told this ).

All in all I'm happy with the satnav that's provided, it's worked for me when navigating, although I have used Apple Maps as well.

Another word of caution: Put the car in Ready mode when updating it and don't be tempted to turn it off if it appears to be doing nothing, the Nav can be very slow at reacting sometimes and the update can take ages if it's a big map.
I did mine ok, but I'm now reluctant to do any further updates because of the problems some have had.
