I have a MG4 2023 standard range. My charging cable is working intermittently so I need to buy a new one, but don't know if I need a normal one or 3 phase? There is a cost difference. Is the 3 phase better?

I believe the MG4 is single phase only so no advantage having a 3 phase cable. Can you not have your existing cable repaired?

The question is if your charge pod at home is 1 or 3 phased.
Not really, the question is if the MG4 has a 1 or 3 phase charger which, it does not. I have a 3 phase lead for my i3 even though i only have single phase at home. Some places I visit however DO have 3 phase charging.

[ Edit moderator: "2 or 3 phase charger" → "1 or 3 phase charger" ]

That is incorrect. It may differ by market.
Mine in DK is 3 phased

Interesting, I must have confussed mine with the LR version.

Will check the vehicle socket too

There is a thread - 'Trophy still supports 3 phase AC charging' - and it discusses the abilities of the various MG4 Types to handle 3 phase. On page 2, #34, Mar 19 2023, @siteguru posts a picture of a charging port without pins 2 and 3. The thread covers the belief that the UK Market was only destined to have single phase but some LR cars were delivered with the EU 3 phase spec.

Mine has 11kW, I bought a 3 phase cable, used it once in 16 months and then was only a 7kW charger. Basically it was a waste of money.
I use mine quite a lot when I'm in Scotland. There are a good number of 22kW chargers where I stay. I don't consider mine a waste of money as I have to use public chargers when I'm there. I don't think I've ever used it when I'm at home in England as I charge at home.

My understanding is that your electricity supply needs to be 3 phase, if it doesnt a three phase cable wont work anyway
