Not an MG
Hi All,

Picked up my new motor yesterday. Lots of faff made to make sure it was at least a Nov 2023 onwards build.

The moment I went over 64mph and every time since, I have a notable vibration on the steering wheel with an accompanying sound.

I know there's lots of threads out there but wanted to ask if this is the "fixed" version or whether there's a version out there that simply drives like a normal car.

100% related to speed. Nothing at 60 mph. Notable at 65 and numb hands at 70mph (varies)

Any advice is also appreciated, I will of course do my homework but just wanted to double check that some of the newer cars were totally without vibration, not just reduced. For my upcoming conversations with Hendy.

That is it IMHO 100% and has me concerned for mine which is being delivered to me on Thursday.?

Salty’s car is Ok so this is totally Russian roulette.
Numb hands at 70mph is like hell a normal characteristic.
I hope they are not dumping problem cars out under these cheap lease deals.?

Oh dear.
You have the same problem as a lot of us have been having.

The vibes MG think is an acceptable characteristic.
No it's bloody not MG.

Unbelievable.
@Doug C was a June 2023 build and zero vibes.

Just goes to show there doesn't appear to be a cut off date after which you can be assured of a vibe free car.

You have 30 days to reject it and unless you want to be severely messed about, you exercise that right.

If it's leased then they need to know asap.
Point them here.

I'm sorry to hear you have the vibration, it's going to be very difficult to have it fixed as MG are denying it as Bricktop says, a ' characteristic '

Is the car brand new? If you cannot live with it, which is what MG hopes you will do, you will need to reject it or you will end up joining the class action to reject the car.

Where is your Hendy dealership?

Hendy Exeter just said to me that it's a tyre issue...they want to check my tyres so that they are not stepped...but for another driver, Hendy Exeter had his car for 5 days, believed the the rear tyre needed changing but MG would not authorise it. So really 5 days at the dealers for nothing.

They are now getting the tyre fitted on 10th October...tyres are not the fix as other's have changed tyres and wheels with no difference.

They know all about this 'characteristic' as our X-Power has been back to them 5 or 6 times (once was for a breakdown when the autonomous braking module failed though). Get straight back onto them.

Based on our experience, they will fit a decent set of tyres FOC, fit the steering damper that is supposed to help mask the problem (it doesn't) then start towing MG's 'characteristic' rubbish.

It's a shame as their MG master tech there is a really sound bloke and gone out of his way to be helpful to me (and very honest about how MG UK treat them!) - it's MG UK & SAIC in general that are the let down, rather than then dealer.

If knew what I know now, we would have rejected straight away (actually believed that MG were working on a fix for this - stupid me). Reject, reject, reject.

Hendy Poole is my local dealer so if mine arrives on Thursday and has the issue they will be the point of contact with MG,
I will also advise leasing company but personally i will not be rejecting mine.

Going above 65 I lost some sensation in my hands. I am a healthy individual otherwise, under 40. That means I am not safe to be driving at those speeds.

Also concerned that four years of this will lead to or contribute to peripheral neuropathy!

In all seriousness, it's an amazing car.... When driven at less than 60...

Well at least you can enjoy it for regular 3.8 second bursts!

Be quicker in mine though what with my 0 to 60mph time of 3.51 seconds.

Not sure I've ever mentioned it to be honest? ???

You haven't driven it yet!
Lease car, i am in Poole car is in Stoke on Trent.
Being delivered by delivery company to my house on Thursday.
Have to check it for damage inside and out before signing for it, only then do i get the keys, then it is mine to take out for a spin.
I live 2 minutes from a dual carriageway ?.

Can I ask, for those who could have rejected earlier on, would you have? I like the car, but a four year lease seems like a long time and a lot of vibes. To be putting up with. It's surely going to forever be known as a lemon batch, so there's no hope of positive equity in four years time, so I'll be handing it back almost certainly.

I’d be very quick to reject, and put it in writing straight away. From your description you have one of the worst (they tend to vary from slight to awful at a steady 67-70mph).

13 months ago I knew this would happen.

I was the first owner on the road in the UK and knew within 5 minutes of driving off the forecourt that the car wasn't right.

I just put it down to a wheel out of balance and got on with my holiday.

It seemed a serious over reaction to reject the car back then because nobody knew any better, but I just had this niggle that I should do it.

Suffice to say I didn't and was reasonable, which in hindsight was the wrong thing to do.

Complaints to the dealer and service manager ignored.
Complaints to MG customer services fobbed off.

We are now where we are.
