Does it make sense to buy a new base model MG4

Funny how threads easily spin off into a topic already discussed isn't it. This will hopefully help staragara make an informed decision
It s funny but any thread about the pros and cons should I or shouldn't I always spin off in the MG customer service is S**T direction. It's a characteristic of the forum?

R40 is the infotainment for the Trophy model, the SR SE uses different numbering for the infotainment.

I would expect if you are ordering now that you would get a MY23 but I guess there is no absolute guarantee of that.
Do you think that's the case for SE SR as well? I just ordered a week ago but not sure if there is a new model or if I'm getting it

I Went for a test drive bigger battery pack.... and it is not bad car but the dealer has not much clue what is she selling i knew more than she did. Ok at least she was friendly.

I had an avg consumption of 15.5kwh
it damped the potholes quite nicely
not loud
quite roomy

You can see some cheap plastics inside
I saw 3 models which they had and some of them were like assembled on a bad Friday bad panel gaps miss aligned body panels ....
Every time when you change some setting it goes back to default after shutdown which is annoying
lane correction was not so intrusive as i read here ..... but if you set it in low setting than even lees

What worried me that 60kwh models had alu wheels with 215 17inch conti tires and the 50kwh model had the steel 16inch/205 wheels and some cheap euro tires. And the 50kwh battery model was also badly put together (bad Friday syndrome).

Is this normal that lower range cars get worse parts and also get assembled badly?

The European standard version is different to the uk spec, smaller steel wheels and a different steering wheel not leather, but my SE SR does seem well put together, I checked all the panel gaps and the interior all though is cheap feeing / looking it screwed together tightly.

I wouldn't have said so. And my SE SR has the same wheels as the current Trophy.

Well, no. I doubt if anyone else on the forum is. I thought I was answering the question "Is this normal that lower range cars get worse parts and also get assembled badly?" with a little bit of extra information.

I went for the Trophy LR, with affinity discount (£2500) by joining the MG owners club (brilliant advice through this site (y)). I drove the SE and had a good look around the Trophy,I do like to have the cameras and blind spot indicator, and a few of the other bits. They have a red 2023 model available from stock with 18" wheels, rear wiper etc (hopefully including the upgraded sotware). should have by the end of the month. I will let you know if the software has ironed out the existing issues.

We'll be wanting pictures!

I think the basic answer to the OP is, it makes sense to buy the model that suits your requirements. If the one you're looking at suits your requirements, then why are you even having doubts?

No doubt the doubts are due to a number of the threads here and the general fud around EVs / Chinese cars.

You can end up with a lemon no matter what you buy. The frequency of lemons might be slightly greater than with some other makes, but the cars that are not lemons are just fine. Being £10,000 cheaper than the competition is quite a sweetener.
