Had my 2020 ZS EV for 18mths and the Drivers Side Electric Window control has suddenly stopped working. Been totally fine until now. Dealer has said there is an 'open circuit' problem with the Wiring Loom which can be fixed but NOT under Warranty at £385 + £135 inspection fee, Ouch?! Anyone else had this issue? Have Googled it and there is some talk of a Recall for this early on but no idea if mine was done before I owned it.

See this thread:

If there is an extant service bulletin covering the fault you shouldn't be paying.

Dealer saying they have the replacement wiring harness ready to fit but still NOT under warranty. Bit disappointing to say the least. Is there a way to appeal directly to MG? Still not entirely sure exactly which Warranty clause excludes this….

We had the drivers side wiring loom replaced under warranty on our 2020 ZS EV ( Gen1 ).
The dealer checked for any updates on our car, when I first booked the car in for its service.
The windows were working fine, but they still replaced the loom under MG’s instructions, as they were being paid fo carry out the work.
It did turn out to be a bit of problem however, because when they replaced the loom, the key was very close to the car.
The car detected it as a possible thief and locked down the car !.
The dealer could not stop the car from sounding the alarm and it wiped the code from the key.
They had the car for three days and required the help from MG CS ( plus the spare key from myself ) in order to wake up the car again.
Both keys then needed recoding.
Not a great experience TBH.
This work was required on some early models on the original ZS EV.
I believe the problem was caused by a incorrect routing of the cable, but the fix was to replace the loom regardless if it was faulty or not.

Apparently….i’m not covered under the ‘Rubber Components’ bit which is only 3yrs/45k miles as the bit of the wiring which has failed causing the Drivers Side window controls to fail is housed in rubber and therefore exposed? ?

I honestly think that is a poor excuse to turn down the warranty claim TBH.
Has the rubber protective boot split or failed in anyway ?.

I agree with Alb, it should be covered and I would appeal to MG central ( somehow!)
