EU MG4 (all variants) - Service campaign SC077 is out, improving lane assist performance

Are all dealers recalling cars for this work? I bought my MG4 second hand but it was from MG Arnold Clark so hopefully they'll have me on record.
It is not a recall but a service update and I suspect the update will be installed when the car goes in for another issue or for a service.

If I might suggest. Don't book your car into the dealers just for this update as it will block the available appointments for owners who need other work doing and the waiting times are long enough as it is.

Yeah but FVCM is as well necessary for Emergency Brake System which relys not only on FDR.
During the FVCM beeing offline i had no Emergency Brake, no cruise control and no LKA.
The Systems seem to be combined in function.
Just wanted to clarify this for the Updates mentioned in this post:

Our dealer called me up and said it was a recall that they need to do and they booked the car in for next week?

I wonder what happens when the leasing companies get these type of notifications. I suspect they just sit somewhere being ignored so the cars will never get the updates.

Give them a call or email if you want to be sure. I think for recalls they probably have ways to find you.

I remember getting a recall notice for my Peugeot 308 even though I hadn’t bought that through a Peugeot dealer and changed the rego to personalised plates. They must’ve used VIN numbers and the DOT database or something.

They get filed in the round archive, don’t they?

I'm booked in for service second week in March. Just wanted to be sure they'll do the work.

Several people have had calls & have been booked in
A recall involves contacting governments as it's a serious safety issue and vehicles can be checked for recalls on government websites
A service campaign they don't, it's something they would like to be carried out on vehicles but doesn't cause a serious safety concern

I emailed my dealer to ask if they were aware of this update - they are, and will book me in to get it done once I get my car back from repair.

PS - is anyone with access to MG's portal able to download a copy of the technical bulletin for this SC? If yes and you share a copy here, I'll upload it to my website (where I've got copies of lots of relevant docs).

I get my car on Monday. If I tell them to update before they give it to me, how long do they usually take?

I'd say at least a couple of hours depending on the modules involved.

Technically they should do any mandatory service actions during pre-delivery inspections but I'd call and ask/remind them

Got mine back after a warranty repair today and they told me they have also done the new drive assist update that came in to the dealer in Monday. I'm assuming it's this, back to work tomorrow so will see how it goes
So I have been out and about in the car for about 60 mi today. It no longer feels like a hyperactive squirrel darting about all over the place when LKA is active. It still doesn't deal brilliantly with low sun early in the morning directly into the camera which can still cause confusion with Lane. Keep assist.

But it does feel much better and much more usable, it's less twitchy, it doesn't seem to grab the wheel in such an abrupt manner , there are far less false positives and I mean a lot less, from the system misreading the road.

There's also a noticeable improvement when using the Lane keeper system in conjunction with the ACC whe n it is set to traffic jam assist. Previously, over the first 47,000 miles I've driven in this car whenever I've tried using TGA, the cars felt very erratic and quite honestly somewhat unnerving.
I've tried it today on a combination of dual carriageways and rural roads and been very pleasantly surprised at how usable and trustworthy the system seems after the update.

Overall, positive news.

I still have some concerns over the car noticing white hgvs against the sky when ACC is working as it does seem to see them a little bit later than other vehicles but that's a conversation for another day...

If MGUK are paying the dealers for the time spent doing the update the dealers that have spare capacity may well use this to fill in free time slots and increase their revenue.

When did you receive the last update before this one?

And.. what is "white hgvs"?

Heavy Goods Vehicles (lorries/trucks) painted white

I personally haven't noticed this but with lorries in general mine slows down before passing them as it thinks they're in front of me rather than in another lane

The latter is also my experience. This leads to the situation thst speed can drop as much as 10kmh. This is plain dangerous...
In fact, I have a video of it.

Yesterday I drove a Cupra and as long as the indicator is on, speed does not drop any further with ACC. MG should use this as well.

Wasn't that the same situation for the 2nd Tesla autopilot fatality in florida 8 years ago? :(

In a statement, Tesla said it appeared the Model S car was unable to recognise "the white side of the tractor trailer against a brightly lit sky" that had driven across the car's path.

Tbh I'm more interested in how the EPS update effects thingsView attachment 34379
I've done the FDR update today. Everything else was updated a couple of weeks ago and frankly the car is now so much smoother. I've personally never had any phantom braking, and the LKA has always been manageable. One thing I have noticed is the major improvement on the T-BOX side of things, and the lack of pop-up message on the main driver screen. It's altogether much improved. The only thing I didn't really appreciate is they've changed the one-pedal reaction time. I personally liked how quick it was to brake when I took my foot off the pedal. There's now a slight delay, I suppose this makes it more generic for those who didn't like how sensitive it was before - although I have of course now adapted to the new setting. I read on another forum that there's a config available to default OPD to on at restart... although I haven't been able to find out if that's true or not....

So you only did FDR? You left EPS on the version from 23.08.24?
EPS version was updated on the 27.01.25 same as the FDR as seen in post #19

PS. Smoother after other updates or FDR?
