EU MG4 (all variants) - Service campaign SC077 is out, improving lane assist performance

LHRDA/RHRDA: i suppose they are part of the rear collision warning system? If I look at the description of the three lka modes, I would expect them to only influence ELK mode ??

Well, I tested the following yesterday on an 86 km trip.
-all sensor at the rear disabled
-blind spot disabled

Then I used Lane Departure Assist and Emergency Lane Keeping mode with various sensitivities.
Purpose: to test what sensors are involved in the two LKA systems, particularly when going back to the previous lane after an overtake.

In general, both modes worked about similar with either sensitivities. High sensitivity definitely alarmed more often and more often unneccesary.

Specifically, when returning to the lane after an overtake (no cars next to me and ahead of me, car faster than the vehicle overtaken, overtake takes place at least 3 seconds after passing, indicator on before approaching lane markers), both LKA modes still provide audio and visual warnings with occasional steering when going back to the initial lane.

Conclusion: LKA overrides the fully disabled rear sensors / warning systems.
Funny thing is it happens in LDA mode as well. This does not fit the description of LDA at all, which is basically the classic LKA intervention mode using the front camera only.

Hi

Sorry for dumb question but new to MG4.

Picked up a preowned MG4 last week and was told the latest software updates would be carried out but checking later I found the car was in version R40 and understand R63 is latest firmware for Trophy in UK.

I also see lots of posts about SC077 LKA update. Is this part of R63 or something different and what should I be looking for in the infotainment system in this regard to check?

I want to make sure when I contact the dealer service I know what I'm asking for and can check they have done what I've asked for. I read that for the the SC077 update the dealerships are contracting customers to get this done.

Many thanks

The individual modules in the car have their own versions and that information is not accessible to ordinary drivers. (Search for SIPS.) SC077 probably updates a number of modules but i do not believe this includes the infotainment module. R63 is the latest Trophy Infotainment version but you may not get it because MG will only lay for the update if you have what they consider a warranty claim. Otherwise you are at the mercy of the dealer who may ask to be paid to do the update. in your case your dealer is wrong to say R40 is the latest version. Note there are side-effects of software updates

My Trophy is on R33 and as it works ok I am not asking for an infotainment update but will insist on SC077 today at its second service

Just had the second service on my. Trophy. Dealer said they did the update to make the LKA gentler and agreed it was SC077 when I stated it.

Wonderful magicians these technicians; last service the SOH was 98%, this year it is 99%. Next year I won't have to worry about battery health.

Can only the vehicle technician do the SOH check?

Waiting on a callback from the dealer service dept to book in R63 update that should have been done before delivery and I will request they can do the SC077 update at same time.

I had the SC077 update done last week and tested the car during two days for a bit more than 300kms. I now can say that I have the impression to drive a new car (y)😇:)

No more "pre-flight" check, just jump in and drive...
LKA is now gentle like it had to bee.

There is still some work to have the ACC smoother.
In the descents, it still acts like a "new driver": breaking when just a "release throttle" would be enough to regulate the speed, then it accelerates again to... break a little later, an so on...

Anyway, I am so happy with the LKA, that ACC seems accessory beside it.
What is a pity is that it we are not far from getting it as it should be.

If you get a suitable OBD adapter you can use an app like Car Scanner to read the SOH value yourself. I checked mine recently and it said 92.2%, down from 92.8% back in December.

Edit: snap 🤣
