EV opposition in the media is ramping up

this clown has never witnessed a diesel truck fire .... at least the electricity out of the battery does run down the gutter and start whole creeks and rivers into fire fronts as well
One of the Transpeak buses caught fire some years ago and the fuel tank split spilling fuel down the drains. A few minutes later several manhole covers were blown open as the fire spread into the drainage system.

Never thought on that back in the day. Some of these old manhole covers were a right pain to open ??

It's a question of learning how to fight these fires. I'm fairly confident they'll find a way to make them at worst no more problematic than petrol or diesel fires. If for no other reason than that there is less actual energy involved and the fire doesn't have the same tendency to spread.

I'm just waiting for one of the usual suspects to pick up on this, to say EVs are unreliable. ? (Video should start at the correct time, albeit the actual issue appears to be a shredded tyre).

I don't think we need permissions for that. It's a fascinating read.

They might need a jumbo version of the fire blanket for the Semi though.

Thanks Coulomb, I wasn't sure if the rules had changed about cross linking forums, got my ears chewed for doing a link to another forum on another site I visited for a while .... just too much of a PITA to both keep visiting there I'm afraid ...... glad this site is a bit easier to get along with ;)

I wonder which was the bias will fall, or will we get a honest comparison.

I'm expecting it to focus on high public charging prices, high depreciation (which makes it cheaper for a used car), and slow charge rates while already at 90%.
Hopefully I'm wrong.

I wonder if ICE emissions will make an appearance.

Reminds me of vinyl vs CD

Tape vs discs

I mean how much longer are these people who are stuck in the 1900’s going to be around for? ???

The debate is over.

Comparing technologies at this stage is so anachronistic and useless.

Teach people to use the thing and be done with it already.

A friend recently told me how they liked their petrol bmw and they were asking should they change it for an electric one.

I replied:

If your car works for you there’s no reason to change.
The day you go electric you’ll be wondering what was all the worry about. Until then no need to think about it.

The journalist is Erin Baker, who works for the Telegraph, so I wouldn't get your hopes up. The Telegraph have reported negatively on EVs in the past.

Oh, her. She's the one who put out a call on Twitter for people who had had bad experiences with an EV to contact her. The post was deluged with people saying how great their EVs were, but that's not what she wanted. She finally cherry-picked two or three very unrepresentative bad-news stories and worked these anecdotes up into an article. When it was published it was deluged with complaints, and of course we got the "poor me, all these nasty people have whipped up a pile-on against a poor defenceless innocent woman" line. The defence was that these were real experiences and it was legitimate to highlight them.

Well, that's settled then. Let's get ready to submit our complaints of biased, unfair reporting to Channel 5.

Her sponsored MG4 review didn’t seem bad at all.

I don’t want to give him any exposure. Sumnary?

Porsche want him to pay to continue the subscription to have his in-car navigation, which was free for the first three years.

You know, the in-car navigation that plans his charging stops, shows him the best chargers to go to, and updates in real time showing how many bays are free.

The in-car navigation he had, all the time he was rocking up to motorway service stations at random saying he didn't know if they had any chargers or not. Rocking up to sites which were broken or already full or (on one occasion) not yet commissioned.

How did he know where to go, so that he ended up on broken chargers, really slow old chargers, sites where there was already a queue and chargers that didn't get on with his car? Well, he used the in-car navigation and avoided doing what it said...
