Had my new 21 reg mg5 ev delivered yesterday, went to set up my android auto but none of the usb ports work, they won't charge any phone, I have tried 5 different phones and 7 different cables, anyone else had this problem or do I need to return the car already.

Might be stating the obvious here, but was the car turned on ?

I don’t think that it’s a known issue. You have done the obvious and tried different cables with different devices. It sounds like the usb ports may not be connected up - which could be an uninstalled fuse for example. It should be a while you wait fix by the dealer ?

Where is the fuse box located

There's a fuse box on the driver side. If you open the door, then pry off the panel using something plastic you can get to the fuses

what was the issue? I’m having the same problem, it used to work but it only works sometimes with a bit of pushing and moving the usb cable . Sound to me like a loose connection at the back.

Use your phone camera and take a picture of the inside of the socket, you'll probably see it's damaged.

I’ll have a look the next time I’m in the car. I google it and someone said there’s 2 metal pins that usually stick up securing the usb plug to the unit and they might have been pushed down to much resulting in a loose connection. And to use a needle/pin to try and prise them up more.

I had a similar problem with the usb data port which stopped working after a few weeks. MG would not fix it under warranty saying that the pins had been bent by an "outside influence" (user error)

Depending on how handy you are, if you can get the panel out you should find it's just a standard USB A port and you could replace it, or get it replaced by a TV repair type shop.

I’d be comfortable replacing it myself, just wondering how I’d get the panel off. Do you know if the cigarette lighter bit pops out and you’d be able to pull the panel out?

It's a bit of a pig to get add, why they couldn't have added a removable cover I don't know.

Had to change a fuse after I managed to drop a USB cable and have the plug land in the 12v port shorting it out.
