New car arrived today?. It’s lashing down with rain so not had chance to have a good look over it but have put it on charge. First time EV’er so have a silly question - when I plug in to my home charger will it automatically start charging after a few minutes or do I have to press the ‘start’ charge on the infotainment screen? I assume it will self start but didn’t do anything until after a few mins and I pressed start. Also to stop charge am I correct to press unlock on the key fob and unplug car side first?

What you should see (without you doing anything) is the drivers display lighting up saying "Connected uncharged" followed by Connected Charging in orange within a few seconds.
If your charge is not starting, make sure the car is turned off, the charger is turned on and both plugs are securely in place. You can also check to see if the plugs are locked in place.

Yes, to stop charge on your home charger, press unlock a couple of times.

I’ll check that next time I charge, Thankyou. Maybe had a delay as the door was open and infotainment screen was on?‍♂️

It’s a BP Pulse (company car so fleet had it installed. I’m with British Gas on a standard tariff but the charger costs are managed by a company who pay the charging fee to BG every month. I’m tied in to that tariff until August so will look for a better one then.

Well I’ve had the car for 2 days now and initial impressions are really good. The car I test drove before ordering had a silver centre console which is what I was expecting but mine has piano black which looks really good - also the dash trim panel was grey fabric and mine is leather effect material which again looks really good. It’s taking some getting used to having no engine noise to gauge speed and I can’t believe how fast the acceleration is! In terms of getting the most mileage I guess the less the power meter is rising is most efficient. It must hammer the battery when accelerating quickly (like a petrol car) so steady away is key…. So far so good

Just got back from a drive out and battery at 80% so thought I’d top up. Plugged the lead in - car first then charger, locked doors and it took about 5 minutes before the charge started - is that normal? I noticed that the charge indicator lights next to the cable plug on the car were blue and turned green when charge started.

I use a granny charger at home (13amp plug) Mine starts charging pretty much instantly.
Usually starts quickly on 7kw charges...
Might depend on your charger settings? Car battery state etc

Should it take so long for the charge to start after plugging in though - I guess it’s doing safety checks before it starts?‍♂️
No, it should start more or less within a couple of seconds, LEDs changing from blue to green.

As far as cables are concerned, car is the last to plug into when starting to charge and first to remove when finished.

Charged up again last night and plugged charger first and then car and it still took about 5 minutes before the charge started - wonder if this is a BP pulse charger thing?
