I’ve found a fix to connect to MG ismart from your phone every time when away from your car.
When the ismart app stops connecting to your car and times out , a way to get it to connect again (this can be done anywhere you are ) press the open button on your cars key then close the car again. After you have done this proceed to open the ismart app again, click on refresh and you will find it will connect the phone app to the car again giving all the information and connection you need with the car.

You can also emptied the cache.

But this update SNAKP23E32 improve this link.
Since this update Is on mine. All datas have an auto refresh. Any time. Everywhere.

Labougie
Tried clearing cache still won’t connect to car. Have to open the car and close the car with key fob for it to work again.

Does this actually unlock the car or does it just wake it from sleep? If it unlocks the car then that is worrying behaviour as it suggests the proximity sensors are irrelevant to the key and if you accidentally hit the unlock button your car is accessible for a few seconds until it auto locks (as no doors have been opened)

Yes it does unlock the car. You can unlock it and lock it instantly only talking seconds but it kicks in the communication with the car and app again.

It’s the key fob communicating with the car. Unlocking the car puts it into wake up mode allowing re communication between the car and app. Only downside the communication only works for 20 mins. After that you have to unlock the car and lock it again for it to work. It’s a bit long winded I know but it’s the only way to reconnect car and app again.

So this section of the owners manual is wrong and a relay hacker only needs to be near the key to unlock the car from anywhere in the World? That is a bit of a worry.

With the key fob you need to physically press the button, and be within range* of the car ... with the smart key the fob needs to be within close proximity to the front doors of the car so that pressing the button on the door handle will allow the car to unlock.

@Glyn007's "hack" only works** if you are within detection distance from the car when pressing the key fob button; if you are out of range then the car won't see any signal so nothing will happen.

* Anyone remember Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear increasing the detection range by pointing the key fob at his head? ;)

** This doesn't always work - sometimes you have to activate the driver's seat sensor to properly wake up the car.

I operate the key from the back of my house my lounge is 30 feet long and with the hall and car on the drive I’m a total of 90 feet away from the car. I look on my ring doorbell and the wing mirrors open up and lights flash to show the car is unlocked. You are wrong you don’t need to be next to the car to reconnect car with app. You do not need to sit in the car for the drivers sensor to have the car wake up. Sitting in the car is to activate the car being able to drive off.

With all due respect, I did not say that you had to be next to the car when pressing the key fob button; I said you had to be within detection range. I also said that you did have to be next to the car if using the Smart key function; i.e. unlocking the door using the door button.

You have misread what I had written. :)

PS - try going 100m+ from your car, press the key fob button and see if the car unlocks. It probably won't, as the fob/car are not within detection range. ;)

PPS - sometimes you do need to activate the car for it to properly wake up so the app can see it. I speak from experience - I've had my car for over 18 months. ;)

Ok fair enough. ?

Another way (at least on the MG5) to wake up the car is to press the sensor on the door handle without a key.
Was useful to monitor/charge 12V aux when away from home for a few weeks, need a friendly neighbour though…

Doesn't work here.

This does not reliably work for me (MY2022 Trophy). Currently the car will not even scan via app despite all the above. This is not uncommon but certainly the longest period of failure so far.
