So I've had my FL Trophy since last January without problems but today I noticed that the radio isn't working. The controls seem OK but there is no sound (not even static on FM/AM). I've tried a reset of the infotainment system. I can still listen to stuff from my phone via Android Auto. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there some weird setting that I might have enabled that stops the radio sound?

If anyone is interested - I took the car into the dealer today. They disconnected the 12V and connected it again and the radio started working. I'll do it myself if it happens again. He did mention that if you do it yourself then turn the steering to full lock each way and back to the middle so that the car recalibrates the steering.
Interesting that the radio didn't get reset enough with an infotainment reboot.

Hi, just got exactly the same problem, radio not working but blue tooth music ok. MG5 Trophy LR. Regarding the steering reset I,m assuming you disconnect the battery reconnect and then lock to lock on steering?

Yes, turn off the car, then disconnect battery (10mm spanner) wait a min before reconnecting, turn it on, do the steering reset, a few other error messages may pop up but they should disappear after driving a few yards.

Don't leave it too long. My experience is that the radio fault is silently discharging the 12v battery.

As it is a new car I decided to let MG sort it out. I wanted a record of the problem in case it was re-occurring. A software update sorted it out but that begs the question, it was supposed to have been updated at the pre delivery inspection. I smell B/S and waffle somewhere amongst all this...

My best guess would be that the software update did a full reset and that the update probably didn't actually do anything. But I suppose if they did an update and now the problem has gone away then it's been a success.

I suspect that the sales critters are told to say "yes, we do all the updates at pre-delivery, don't you worry about that", and the reality is that the office boy wipes a few panels and does a vacuuming. Probably a bit more than that, but you get the idea.

Yes, between the sales boys and poorly regulated service departments it is no wonder MG don't have a great reputation in customer satisfaction. I have just bought a MG4 extended range also ,on pick up, tyre pressures all over the place, sticker left on rear bumper, promised full charge only 50% and no promised key rings. All small things I know but it sets the tone. Only for the fact I paid £21490 for the 5 and £26.3k for extended 4 can I say to myself, don't expect Rolls Royce service and you won't be disappointed.
