As there are a few threads about this, if you have received a free Tesla supercharger update, please post the name, address and contact details of the dealership which performed it.

Edit moderator: Added "supercharger" to the thread title.

Does it make a difference whether it's free or not?
Depends on how often recharge away from home, I travel down south a few times I recharge at Banbury Tesla 53p for a non member per kWh InstaVolt 85p per kWh a difference of 32p, if you get a free upgrade it makes a difference if you pay for it it would take a lot of journeys to recoup the outlay, I took the advice from Miles Roberts a technical manager for MG Chorley who said by email bring it to Chorley or any other MG dealership it’s free.

2023 MG ZS Trophy Connect Long Range
That's a Tesla? ;)

The request was for details about the Tesla model being included in replies where Tesla software updates were being listed. :)

Apologies if I've misinterpreted the intention of this thread - to me Tesla means Elon Musk's company, thus Tesla cars.

Not sure what you’re saying

Not sure why you're not sure - I even quoted your prior post in my reply above. ?‍♂️

This thread is about Tesla cars and the Tesla software updates (as far as I can tell). Saying you have an MG ZS in a thread about Tesla cars seems irrelevant, as I don't think that's what @Jomarkh was asking for.

Think you don’t fully understand you can now charge you MG on some Tesla’s chargers, but on the early MG car you need the software updating some MG dealerships are charging for this upgrade but there wrong, I had the free upgrade so I can use Tesla’s chargers saving me money.

The thread, as far as I understand it, is to find out which MG model don't work with Tesla Superchargers and if they can get a free update or get charged for an update or need a replacement part.
I was told I needed a £300 part and 3 hours labour to fit.
I have a MG5 SR EXCITE 2021.

No, I mean is the model important? Surely if a dealership does the update free of charge, they'll do it for all models.

You would think that. But MG were claiming that certain models needed a hardware update before supercharging would be possible, even though other forum members proved that this is not the case. MG would not do this change under warranty, and the cost to the customer was substantial. That appeared to be verging on fraud.

So yes, unfortunately the model is relevant here. In some cases, the age of the EVCC module may also be important, but that can be sought later if needed.

As far as I know, no MG4 models require an update to use Tesla superchargers.

Thanks for the clarification re. the intent of the thread ... the original title and post made me think this was about Tesla car software updates (as I've seen info about this elsewhere - there are Tesla updates available apparently). I now know that this is actually about charging MG cars on Tesla superchargers, so my earlier posts are now irrelevant. :)

See Tesla Supercharger Issue MG5 LR

The model is very important but even more importanter(!) are the build date and numbers from the unit as that does appear to indicate if the MG5 is updateable. I also think it plays a big part with Zs models as well.

They are having a laugh.

Would someone accept that if their petrol car couldn't be fueled at Shell filling stations?

Hi to all here I have only just found this thread not been on here for a couple of weeks really but there appears to be some confusion still about MG vehicles and open to all Tesla superchargers that are open to all makes.

This all started with the MG5 and after a long debate in that forum it was established thanks to Miles Robert’s that the long range models face lifted or pre FL should be able to charge at Tesla points, and if they didn’t work the dealers should be able to apply a software update fix and the cost of doing this the dealer could claim back from MG Motors.
With no cost to owners this is what was reported on the podcast and was correct at that time.
My car a 2022 FL trophy LR was fixed via a software update FOC by my dealer Chorley MG in Chorley and now works fine

Several weeks later this appeared to be changed of tune by MG to say it was now at the dealers discretion which I said at the time was most annoying.

Several owners apart from myself have had this work done on there MG cars FOC but it is now obvious it was not just the MG5 that had this issue but also the ZSEV.

To the best of my knowledge the MG4 does not have this issue my wife has a 4 SR and I have charged that on a supercharger without any problems.

So it appears the debate goes on and that shouldn’t be the case an update is available for certain but not all models that we know, which dealers will apply it FOC is the point of this thread and many thanks to Gadjet Geek for starting it, and as I see it in a nutshell, the information required is if your car has been fix to enable the open to all Tesla network to be used is.
Which car
Model
Year
Which Dealer did that fix FOC.
Les.
