Good news for those of us without Intelligent Octopus Compatible chargers!

They have discontinued the 'Octopus lite' tariff for those on Octopus Go and are allowing people to use the standard export tariff.

This was noticed by Tim of "Tim and Kat" fame :

So we can import at 8.5p and export at 15p!

Excellent news for people with lots of batteries and south-facing solar (we have a single battery and E-W solar but still good news for us too).

That does look attractive, but I've heard some people pretty pissed off with Eon. (Mind you, my patience with Octopus is getting a bit strained too.)

Is your patience getting strained because of Octopus, or your setup and how it works with your tariff on Octopus. If the latter then the question is would it be any different regardless of supplier ? Probably only you has the answer to that.

My patience is getting strained because Octopus (a) changes the charging slots it has allocated to me after announcing "we've mapped tonight's smart charge!" and (b) I can't get a consistent or sensible explanation from them about what is going on.

Not problems so far, mind you it's only been a few months :ROFLMAO:

Only real issue was setting up the smart export bit, filled in all the details then not a dickie bird from them for over 2 months. Then an email saying all set up.
It would have been nice to at least having an acknowledgement of the online form we had to fill in.

as an update...
After 5 phone calls to Eon Support, finally got the Vestel charger connected.
As we don't do a huge mileage in the cars (hybrid XC60 and MG4 Trophy LR) I'd only been using the granny cable.
As we've been doing more miles of late and fewer miles/kWh in the cold, I wanted to get the charger working.... what a flippin' game....
Charger (Vestel EVC04) had been installed by the previous home owner in 2023.
I could connect the cable and charge but when I tried with the car schedule there was an error light on the charger.
Contacted Eon tech support, they are based in Holland and really didn't understand my issue. Charger had been set to inactive as not on home WiFi. They sent me instructions on how to do that.
Still couldn't use it as it needed a registration link to the Eon Home app, this was sent and I set up but couldn't add the charger to my account.
Yesterday, girl from the UK rang, talked me through the set up, checked the WiFi settings and added the charger to my account.
I tried the schedule charging on the Eon app, but the car just charges regardless and can't be stopped.
I set a schedule on the MG info screen, and it starts and stops okay!
Result :)
