Granny charger connected not charging

Hello I have an MG4 for only a couple of days and come to use the granny charger for the first time at home. No extension cables just straight from plug socket out the window. It says “connected- not charging” and I cannot get it to charge. Does anyone have any tips ?!
Follow the instructions in the quick start manual if you have one. Plug into car first then lock the car. Plug into mains and switch on if a switched socket. give it half a minute and it should start charging. I only ever use the granny chrger, never used a home wall charger and only once used a public charger. I only do short runs locaally with a once a monthvisit to my daughter (220 miles return). Granny charger is plenty.

I suddenly have exactly the same issue. I have an MG5 and have successfully charged many times before using the MG supplied granny charger.

Has anyone had any luck resolving this?

I used my granny charger all the time for 15 months and still use it occasionally. No matter what I do and in what order, the car charges. Just once, when I unlocked the car twice in quick succession just after it had started charging, did it stop and fail to restart. I restarted it from the app when I realised.

I didn't know it was even possible to have all these problems.

@Padaung, have you looked at the underside of the granny charger and interpreted what the indicator lights are showing?

Have you tried all the previous suggestions? In particular, does the cable lock?

the indicator lights are showing?
The power light is on (not blinking), and the charging light is on (not blinking), the fault light is off.

However, the car says 'connected, uncharged!'

The cable does lock.
I have tried all the other suggestions in this thread, sadly to no avail.

I'm taking the car to my local dealer tomorrow, they have kindly said they will take a look and plug in a known 'working' 3 pin charger (the car is charging fine with a motorway rapid charger) to see if the issue is with my granny charger.

You mention successful charging via motorway rapid chargers which are DC, have you tried AC charging via a wall box or a public access AC charger? Some MG4 owners have had problems with AC charging and had to have their CCUs replaced. Search for 'Issue with ac charging'.

Bear in mind that all the cars with this issue have been phase 1 models with the NMC battery. So phase 1 SE LRs and phase 1 Trophys. Basically the ones with the 3-phase charging capability, I think. (Never heard of an ER being affected though.)

As luck would have it, I was trying this when I saw your reply.

It seems that AC charging is not working at all. The public charger said it was charging, but the car was not charging - so the same outcome as when I tried the granny charger.

I did mention this in my earlier post, but I have an MG5 SR (so before the cars had any app connectivity, meaning I can't use that to try and charge either).

I'm at a DC charger now and that is working, so at least I've been able to get enough charge to get to the garage later today!
