What is the thoughts of the putting green number plates on electric cars. (BBC news web page today)

As an EV advocate, I like people to know that I drive an EV. Having a green plate might have that effect.
I don't think using bus lanes is a good idea. It's the usual stuff that's needed. Cheaper cars and better charging infrastructure.

As a business owner any little help looking at my vehicle helps with advertisement and I personally like the colour they’re proposing.

I have an MG ZS EV on order so people recognising a normal looking attractive car as an EV might help normalise EVs. The number of times a Mazdas or Nissan Qashqai wizzes past and I think it’s an MG ZS or GS is silly and showing people that these cars can be electric is important for adoption

I don’t actually think the First Year Allowance is a good financial reward. You can get a lot more tax relief just claiming mileage or motoring costs individually for business related expenses on the car.

Eg. £24,000 minus “expected value after 5 years” which I expect £10,000 in line with Nissan Leaf Tekna trim which is estimated £14,000. That divided over 5 years would be £2,800. Just leasing costs which cover the depreciation over 5 years would be more than £2,800 and both have the same running costs.

What’s the benefit of NOT using First Year Allowance I hear you ask? The massive balance charge you get hit with when you “dispose” of the vehicle
