So after test driving the car and Sunday and sort out the loan on Monday, we have today received the full quotation from the MG dealership.

As part of the Luscombe Protection Pack they are offering:
  • Gen3 Ceramic Paint Protection (upto 5 years paintwork protection) £345
  • Halo Pro recording cameras – gives 360 vision to prevent insurance fraud and help prevent insurance losses due to drive away incidents. £399
  • 3 Years Cosmetic Protection - £3000 excess free damage cover for minor damages, scuffs, scrapes, dents, chips, irrelevant of fault – take the car to any VAT reg bodyshop. £399
Are any of these worth it? The Halo Pro camera I can see available for sale doesn't mention 360 vision. Wouldn't the 3 years cosmetic protection be covered by our insurance?

Also they want to charge a fuel/EV charge of £30. I have been told that the car has zero miles, so not sure it would need charging to a cost of £30. Plus an admin fee of £49 which is not very descriptive but suppose I can't argue this one.

Should I accept any of the 3 offers a d what are your thoughts on the smaller charges?

Thanks

Charge for a full tank - my supplier is giving it free. £49 admin charge? Tell them no and to include mats and flaps.
As for the rest, I'm just going to buy some good car wax.
Not sure with the camera. May be worth getting other quotes

I thought the charging was weird. I will tell them to jog on.

I am thinking ceramic paint protection or would a good car wax do the same job?

A lot of those options will be personal choice to be honest. Get other quotes before committing to anything is what I would say.

As for the admin fee - I’d agree with above, ask why it is so high. £49 seems too much to me.

And would also agree about the charge to ‘fill’ it…tell them to do one!

If you're going to pay for paint protection go to a proper car detailer who will correct the paint before putting the protection on. The difference will be massive and worth the money you pay, or just do it yourself.

All of these extras are very profitable for the dealers as there's virtually nothing involved in the ones they sell.

Definitely going to tell them to stick those 2 fees or I'll just go to another dealer in Bradford, who I know has an orange Trophy.

I'll look into getting cameras put in but buy a better quality one that that.

There seems to be some debate about the ceramic coating but I think I'll get it done but as you say @Tight Git I'll pay a professional to do it.

The insurance should cover scratches.

I'm also a bit annoyed cause he is saying that the car won't be ready until next Tuesday but we have to pay by next Monday. I told him I didn't expect to be handing over the money till I've given the car a once over. I presume he's trying to push for his July sale stats

Pick mine up tomorrow, charged to 80% at no charge and have only paid a small deposit, balance tomorrow. No admin fees on top of advertised price, I also got the MG affinity discount and type 2 lead.

Good to know. I don't know if the Leeds dealership is known to be a bit pushy of it's just the person I'm dealing with.

Hopefully all goes well and you enjoy your new MG4 ?

Mine came with 100% charge, a granny and a AC charging cable. Noone tried to sell me these upgrades. However when I bought my ZS EV in 2020 they tried to persuade me to do the paint protection, camera, and mats. I said no to all of it, and they gave it to me with mats included (but only a granny charger cable)

It’s a shame the cameras already on the trophy can’t be dual purposed into security : dash cams. That seems a bit of a miss to have to put in a redundant camera system.

If you pay on Monday it goes towards July's figures (31st) tell them to beat it, you have all the power here your a cash buyer

Mine wanted over £400 for paint protection. I declined and bought a pressure washer, foam gun, snow foam and a good quality wax together with a fabric sealant for the interior for under £150 but I then I quite enjoy cleaning the car.

The Halo Pro dash cam with front and rear cameras fitted by Halfords including hard wire kit and SD card £294.97

If you decide you want cosmetic car insurance you can get it from third party insurers.

I sent an e mail last night basically saying no way to the extras, wtf to the fuel and admin cost and I'm going you 30k cash so am I getting mats, mud flaps and chargers.

I will update the thread when I've had a response

If you are through Affinity you do get the charging cables (Both). Does not include mats and flaps, but I think that some have been supplied with mats?

Gen3 Paint protection is an excellent product, but as others have said, pay the same (or slightly more) for a professional detailer to apply it properly.
The cosmetic protection can be bought for less than what they are charging.
I suspect the Halo thing is just a dash cam which again can be purchased and fitted for a lot less than £399.
I wouldn't bother with any of those options from the dealer.
He is charging you 48p/kWh for the electricity, which I think is a cheek BTW, so whether you take them up on that is up to you.

I wasn't aware I should be getting both chargers due to the Affinity program. Thanks for the heads up ?

Yes. Completely agree with you. While I negotiated a reasonable reduction on the exterior paint protection and interior fabric protection, I really don't believe it is at all good value. We were told that we would never have to polish the car. It is in my opinion Rubbish. Can't comment about the fabric protection so far at least.
I have gone back to using the car polish I trust. That is Number 1 Car Polish from Carolan. £10 from Amazon and it is far superior.

Mine also came fully charged FOC. Useful as I had a 60 mile drive home from the dealership. Bought from a dealership an old school friend owns, rather than the local dealer whose presales service was not good.
