Hills starts

MG Pilot from a double pull on the stalk activates both ACC and Lane Keep Assist ( which on MG Pilot works better than just Lane Keep Assist activated on its own). It makes motorway driving a lot easier.

Back to the hill start conversation, I live in rural North Wales and can confirm the auto hill start brake works on anything you can drive up. After a while it switches off and puts the hand brake on.

Can I just ask, do you mean the hill hold or the auto hold where you press the A and a little green light comes on?

Press A and the little green light comes on when you stop. Is the hill start separate I always have the A swich on.

I think so, from what I read it’s got hill assist that is meant to hold it just long enough for you to take your foot off the brake and hit the accelerator or the auto A button that effectively puts the brake on with no need to keep your foot on it until you hit the accelerator which judging by the responses is what most people use on hills but I thought the manual said it wasn’t for that, to be honest I don’t care so long as I can stop and start on a steep hill without rolling back ?

What about OPD, that stops the car until you hit the go peddle. I haven't tried it on a hill, but I'm confident you wouldn't roll back. Next time I'm out I'll try it.
Are there any steep hills where you are? Visited in Feb, what a beautiful place to live. Let me know about that hill if you find one ?

Hi Pam,
Glad you enjoyed it here.

Yes we have a few steep hills, but I keep forgetting to take the car there to try it, sorry, I'll try and remember.

EDIT, Silly old fart time.
Just removed a pic I thought was Nottingham, but I had my N's mixed up, it was Norwich.

Just tried OPD on a hill start, works perfectly. Comes to a dead stop without using brake.
Stays there until accelerator is pressed.
Takes off without rolling back a mm.
Fairly steep hill, I can only just ride up it using lowest gear.

Would work well at traffic lights.

In OPD, I'm sure you will find the 'A' goes green when you stop, holding you on the brakes.
I thought despite being different models, they would behave the same, no?

we don't have one pedal driving in ZS, the closest to it on ZS would be driving in KERS 3 and auto hold which works perfectly fine for me ..

Do you mean the A button, auto hold? ?

enable auto hold and enjoy! don't need to keep your foot on the brake on traffic lights, in traffic and whenever you come to a full stop ... works great.

I bet it's on the dash somewhere.
I had a ZS as a courtesy car recently and I never noticed ether, so that makes two of us!

I've never noticed an "A", maybe I'm just not very observant

It's not actually on the dash, it's just to the right of the parking brake:

Well that's probably it. My car doesn't look anything like that.

Edit I see where I've gone wrong. I didn't realise this was a forum specific to ZS EVs. I picked it up in "New Posts". I'll have to watch that in future. Sorry for any confusion.

And Pam, Although our car is an MG 4, my wife has taken to level 3 regen like a duck to water.
I was worried before our first test drive, she would find it hard to adapt to.
But in the first 50m she was hooked. It's just such a lovely way to drive.

Pam24, as you have driven manual cars I think you will enjoy driving an electric automatic. I would not wish to go back to manual after using an automatic.
Let us know what you think.

So far so good, not going for the gear stick quite so much and getting used to the regen thing, it’s just the stopping and starting on a steep hill that I’m nervous about lol, will having it in auto hold be enough!!
