How come I can remote check car status?

Bit late to this thread but can anyone explain in detail the steps taken to get the car details.
Eg step one, open app
Step 2, app requests data from mg server,
Step 3, mg server requests data from car

Step 3 and onwards are the most important for me as my car refuses to update after having the telematics box changed.

So step 3, is it the mg server communicates with the telematics box which then asks the car computer to provide details to be passed back? Is there likely to be some sort of checksum to make sure the car id matches that of the tbox and ultimately those held on the mg server? Trying to understand where the actual issue is in mine as Im getting nowhere with either dealership or MG customer support

Have you tried unbinding and rebinding the account to the car?

Yes, a few times. Even tried different phones. As far as I can guess, the car doesnt communicate with the tbox. If I knew the steps taken between the app and car I could get the point across to the dealership and MG who keep saying it's the app. The app was fine until the tbox was swapped.
