How do you treat your MG4?

When we picked up our new MG4 51 on Tuesday (yes, we have 3 of them now) the dealership sold my wife on paint protection and tinted windows ... for another $2,000 thankyou very much o_O

When we picked up the car, they told us not to wash it for 7 days and only use ph neutral products .... when I asked if rain was ph neutral, because that's the only washing any of our cars have had in the last 7 yrs ..... there was a roll of the eyes and a laugh ...... then they looked out the window at the EB Fairmount we rolled up in ....... and the laughter died away  I mentioned it had over 200,000 kms on the clock and still going strong and our '08 Gen 2 Prius had 740,000kms on the clock, our '74 VW Kombi is approaching the 1 mill kms .... and I expected this MG4 to outlast all of them, because it was the first new car we have ever purchased ..... the looks were worth bottling :ROFLMAO:

If I remember correctly the paint treatment extends the warranty on the paint, but I’m sure they have their ways to weasel out of that if you really tried a claim years down the road. I do believe in tinted windows though, but they are always so confused when you ask for the lightest tint, instead of “darkest legal” that dealers think we all want…

I treat mine to the loss and replacement strategy for the electricity the same as owners of old British motorbikes do with their oil.

Can’t wait we’ve part exchanged our BMW Active Tourer 5 years old and has just costed £500 to have an electrical fault repaired. One of the main reasons we chose MG was the 7 year warranty.
You will love moving from ice to an EV but just remember the 7 year warranty as it's is with most manufacturers has a lot of stuff drop off the cover after 6, 12, 24 and 36 months. Definitely worth reading the warranty doc

Since this is my first EV I'm probably a bit more cautious with it than I need to be. I try to drive fairly economically (with the occasional hoon!).
I charge to 80% once a week, with a 100% balance charge once every couple of months or before a longer journey.
Treat it a lot better than my previous cars that's for sure :ROFLMAO:
The MG4 has a battery management system (BMS). The BMS helps ensure the battery performs well and lasts a long time. I've never done the balance but will do when the car tells me.

That was a special external oil cooler and rust inhibitor system, not so much a leak as sweat from all the HP ...... it was also an oil level indicator, if it stopped dripping, there was no oil left ;) :D
BSA had an addition feature where it would oil both sides of the rear tyre to make it easier to drift around most corners .....

I'm about to wash mine, can't remember the last time I did that.

Looks like it's in the middle of it's yearly wash. Just checked and we've had it 1 year and 3 weeks. Neither of us think we've ever washed it.

I have my doubts our MG4 will suffer such abuse ...... although I am a bit concerned about the fine spray the window washers produce ..... combined with the stuff in the washer water, it could be mistaken for a wash ......

I guess mainly ours stay fairly clean, our other cars used to get detailed at their yearly service. Even though we told them it wasn't necessary.

For some reason my surfwagon has been treated to some windscreen treatment, that makes it almost obscure after using the washers when driving into the sun. Lots of elbow grease and acetone don't remove it.

It's a pain because, after a windsurfing session the windscreen has suffered a fine coat of salt spray, and I'm usually driving home into the setting sun.

Mine is living on the drive so it gets a wash every fortnight with a top-up of Polar Seal every month. Washed it today actually, in the rain. Then just sprayed it with Polar Seal, power washed the stuff off and left it alone. No need to dry it off - no point actually, in the rain!

First day I got mine I coated it with graphene. Then I re-apply as spray version every month when I wash the car. It looks always slick with minimum effort.
