Software:
• MPU SWI69-29958-1100R21
• MCU 69.3.5.0

Ive seen in other forums around that some people say "my mg4 is MY2022"... (Where do you see this?

Ive seen others say "ive updated from R33 to R46"

So i assume mine is outdated because it says R21... And my dealership said it may be blocked by region LATAM he is going to ask around - which is a bummer if true...

Please enlight my wisdom:

1) what is MCU? And what is MPU?
2) SWI69-29958-1100R21 > what is SWI69... And the other numbers?

These usually mean something and not just "update version"...

There's nothing in the manual about this...

Dealership swears this model is 2025. But in the update screen i took a photo when was the last update attempted and it says this:

1000162084.jpg

My mg4 is standard long-range 64kW.

Any insights?

Mine is a model year (MY) 2022. I know because I bought it in 2022 and it doesn't have a rear wiper. But software version <> model year ... model year relates to hardware build specification; i.e MY2023 added a rear wiper and 3rd rear headrest. Software depends on what's available in your region and what's been installed. Mine is:

MPU: SWI69-29958-1100R33
MCU: 69.3.8.0

If your region is following UK/EU software releases then the above should also be available to you (as your Comfort = SE LR in UK terms).

Your MPU is identical except R33...instead of R21
Your MCU same... Except 3.8 instead of 3.5

They sell these as "comfort". I know its standard because it doesn't have fog lights, bi spoiler and long tail lights.

Should be 2023+ because it does have rear wiper and 3rd rear headrest.

Any idea what MPU and MCU stands for?

Guess i depend on my dealership's access to updates then... Because i dont see any internet option to update the car myself (or via usb as other devices are able to)

MPU - Microprocessor Unit
MCU - Microcontroller Unit

i.e. bits of computational and control hardware that run software to make them work.

In the UK/EU the MPU revision determines how the Infotainment system looks and works. With the SE specification the end part always shows 1100Rxx (where xx is the iteration/point revision); the Trophy specification always shows 1300Rxx at the end, as that software caters for additional features that the Trophy supports which the SE doesn't have. (e.g. 360° cameras etc.)

1100R33 is the latest available in the UK/EU for the SE specification. (Standard and Comfort in your terminology). e.g. you'll probably observe that your Infotainment screen does not show an external temperature indication ... R13 included this, R16 removed it (for whatever reason), R21 still omitted it, but R33 brought it back. R33 also added a control to the pull-down menu to allow LKA to be turned off. Full details of 1100R33 can be found in the thread I started on that very topic.

MG do not currently offer OTA (Over The Air) updates, so only a dealer can apply any software updates. Note: not all software updates are easily seen; there are several hardware components with their own softwares (firmwares) which need to be updated individually.

This is an abolsute banger reply.

Everything is clear now.

1100R is my model. And Rxx is the version update for this specific model. So yeah, i need to update from R21 to R33. I'll go to the dealer auto shop tomorrow and ask in person. I dont like waiting.

No idea what LKA stands for... But thanks! I'll read your post now.

LKA = Lane Keep Assist.
But in the pull-down menu the option is called LDP On for some reason ?‍♂️ ... blue highlight = On, no/grey highlight = Off. When off the LKA symbol in the (top-left of the) driver display turns yellow.
