Incandescent bulbs!

Well putting figures in the good old Excel spreadsheet........

Incandescent Bulbs 5w x 2 = 10w
LED Bulb x 2 1.44w = 2.88w
Saving = 7.12w

Assuming theyre on for 30 seconds on entry and 30 seconds on exit the saving is 7.12w per minute.

Using 4.5miles / kWh
7.12w / 1000w = 0.00712 miles or 11.45 metres.
I hate to be pedantic, but it looks like you have the bulbs being on for 1 hour here, when it's actually on for a minute. ;)

7.12W for a minute is 0.1186666667Wh, or 0.0001186666667 kWh - please correct me if I'm wrong!

I can neither confirm or deny whether you are right or wrong

I got the warm version of these ones from a link somewhere else on here.
Amazon product ASIN B01LYEZPFC
These say Quote "NO CANBus function ! ! ! It doesn't work on the new European cars & High-end Luxury with OBC wiring system. The onboard computer will reject them, or it will cause error, warning, or flicker."

Have yours been OK in the MG ?

Fitted these today and they look a lot brighter than the OEM's at 300 lumen each for sure ?

I found using two plastic trim tools was a lot easier - one to open a slight gap and then a wider one to get into the gap fully to lever the cover out ... it was quite tight !

I purchased the same ones and just fitted, like you I used two tools to remove the clear cover, I also unscrewed the two screws in the sun glasses holder and took the whole console down, made life much easier.

As usual, many thanks to all for this thread. The interior light really bugged me, not only because it seems silly that they are incandescent as standard, but mostly because they seemed to make the car darker when you switched them on. But this thread gave me confidence to change them.

The link in the video earlier in this thread now shows the lights unavailable. However, if this helps anyone, I searched for a similar type at classiccarleds.co.uk
This is the one I found, sold by the each, rather than the river-themed seller selling them as a foursome, which makes more sense as you only need two.
I've not used this company before, but I ordered yesterday afternoon and the lights arrived in today's post, pretty amazing for our location.
I fitted them earlier, and, yes, the cover has really tight tolerances. The best tool turned out to be my trusty old Swiss army knife's tiny blade, but the video helped me to know where to find the little tabs.

I was really porky shoving in the new bulbs, wanting to just half-fit them to ensure the polarity was correct before the full fit, and aware that some have had problems pushing the holder in too far. And yes, the well known law applied and the first insertion in both cases was the wrong way round. But other than that it all went quite easily.

The next and hopefully final getting-ready-for-winter task is the new wiper blades on order, and which should arrive next week. But the interior lights refit is truly an upgrade.

Before and after pics attached.
