The infotainment screen has gone blank.
After reading various posts about this, I pressed the Home Screen for 10 seconds .
The MG logo came up on the screen for a little while, but then went blank again.
I have just booked the car in, but the earliest date they can offer is 22nd May.
Any Ideas?

The car is an MG5 excel standard range

You could try a hard reset (12V Battery disconnect) but there's not much else you can do if that doesn't work. Try contacting other dealers to get a better date.

Not impressed with MG services. After waiting over an hour they told me that the screen was faulty. They needed the car for 2 weeks. The screen has to be sent away. The earliest they can do it is 15th May.

My screen has gone off a few times in the last 3 years but it comes back on after what seems like a reboot and show the MG logo.

If they are sending the screen to Longbridge it's most likely a software problem.

Same here, mine must have gone blank dozens of times, but sometimes just resets itself or I press the volume button, I sometimes experience phone connection problems, if I have the display showing just the date and time, it always needs a switch off and on again if that happens. PFL MG5

My screen also has gone blank a few times, but this time it has given up completely. The reversing camera is still working and the MG logo comes on periodically, but then it goes blank again.

My infotainment screen is faulty too, I’ve been waiting 3 months for a new one. Told this week they have no ETA on the screen.
Have you had any updates done on it?
Does it work for a while after disconnecting the 12V battery?

I get this from time to time while using Apple CarPlay, weirdly I can trick it back into action by using voice control on the steering wheel and saying “switch to Waze” or any another app. Then it appears and stays visible. It’s as if it’s running but just showing a blank screen. The infotainment section is the biggest flaw of my 2021 prefacelift Excite…otherwise it’s perfect.

Me too! Screen goes blank and I'm unable to reproduce it in order to make it happen.
Also, the volume can sometimes stay low after I've reversed out of my driveway and then select Drive. It recovers after a long press on the volume knob and then re-start the infotainment system with a short press.
Do you get the rear view camera when reversing?

Update.

I took my car to the dealer on the 20th May
They gave me a MG 4 as a curtesy car. They said it would be 2 weeks.
After 2 weeks I phoned, only to be told that the radio screen had not arrived yet.
This morning I phoned again.
It appears that the “radio department” was shut down on 27th May for 3 weeks.
The MG 5 is a nice car to drive , but the servicing and availability of parts is appalling.
Meanwhile I am enjoying the MG 4.

Don't chase the dealership. Keep the MG4, it's rear wheel drive which means the tyres stay on the road instead of spinning if your right foot is a little heavy!

My infotainment has stopped working now 21 plate SR. I've had the radio module disconnected error on and off for about a year. Don't have that fault at the moment but now the screen won't boot up, it just shows mg logo briefly and then continually tries to re-boot with no success. No doubt there will be a wait for a new unit!

Have you disconnected the 12V battery for 10 minutes then reconnected?
You will get a few errors but they disappear after you drive it for a mile or so.

Oh yes I've done that about 5 times. No joy

Not for 10 minutes though

Left it for about an hour. Makes no difference. I bet if it was a Ford they'd have a new unit pretty quick. At least I've got it booked in in 3 days time. Take it from there....

Now the unit has gone off to Longbridge for testing...let's see if they return it fixed or send a new one. For now, no screen, no reversing camera etc etc. Everything takes so long to sort out.

Hi AndyX, as of today I've got the same problem. Did MG manage to repair your unit? I'm thinking of buying a 2nd hand unit, does anyway know if a new unit needs reprogramming once fitted?

My unit was sent away and yes, now it is returned and working. No note of what they did to it though. Dealer is trying to charge £79 as MG say it was out of warranty and they fixed it as "good will", but they don't cover postage, removal and refitting! Even though it was defective for over a year!
I actually thought about buying another unit. The problem is it might have the same problem and then still need to be sent to MGUK for fixing. It would be good to know what they did but no details were supplied at all.

Thanks for replying mate, glad yours is back working anyway, at least that's good news.

My reason for looking at 2nd hand units is I've currently got a 21 plate Excite that's on lease and is going back in 3 weeks so won't have time to go to the Dealers for a fix, but if I send it back with a defective head unit then they'll sting me with the cost of a new one.

Only thing holding me back now is wether or not I'd need to get the 2nd hand unit reprogrammed in someway after fitting it or wether it's just plug and play.
