As a previous owner of the MGZS where I experienced intermittent connections for bluetooth calls and intermittent wired android connection. I investigated different cables but in the end opted for a bluetooth/wifi connector for my new MG5. This worked fine for a couple of weeks, automatically connecting to the car with the phone in my pocket and then stopped connecting and I had to keep forcing the bluetooth to connect. Following an update on my phone it returned to normal, connecting automatically. I then travelled to the shop and on my return it didn't connect. The only change was I had used my google wallet to pay by card. By closing the app the phone returned to connecting ok. On further investigation just opening the google wallet doesnt cause a problem but using it to make a purchase does. I guess its part of the phone security to limit connections while in "pay" mode. So a simple app close, which isn't a problem allows the phone freedom to connect. I suspect this was the problem with my previous wired connection and nothing to do with cable quality. Thought this might assist others.

If you get really frustrated doing that, I've been using the "AAWireless" dongle and it's pretty seemless. I don't need to touch my phone in the car to connect or disconnect.

I don't get frustrated at all and I suspect the "AAWirelss dongle" would be the same if I used Google pay. The point was that there was nothing wrong with any of the connections but the problem was with the phone and behaviour of the app. Do you use Android and Google wallet?
