I'm wondering if the TJA could be a way around flat towing the MG4 51 behind the motorhome ....... If it isn't speed restricted, would it try to keep up with the motorhome so the load was reduced and it didn't spend its time in regeneration and add to the load as well as over charge the battery ....

The other possibility is reducing the distance on the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control, not Air Conditioning like the wife thought ) and setting it to 100 km/h so didn't try to overtake but didn't try to act as a brake either .......

Any Ideas?

Are you or Mrs. T1 going to be sitting in and driving the MG4 at the time? ACC won't work unless someone is physically in the driver's seat.

Would trolley/dolly wheels (for all 4 wheels?) and towing the car not be the preferred solution?

Ahhh..... well that is the end of that idea, hadn't thought about that small hiccup  Back to modifying the tilt trailer I bought to fit the front guards between the trailer mudguards

The Tja is speed restricted over 131 km/h.

Is that because the car itself is speed restricted? (i.e. it doesn't matter whether you're using ACC/TJA or driving fully manually). I think my SE SR is restricted to 100 mph or maybe 105 mph ... but that would contradict what I've just said. 🤣

PS - towing at 130 km/h would be rather foolish. :)

The car is limited to 170 km/h, but the TJA only works up to 131 km/h. Here in Italy, the motorway speed limit is 130 km/h, and I use the TJA at that speed. However, as soon as I go above 130 km/h, the TJA stops working and only the ACC remains active.

PS: Honestly, I don't think using TJA or ACC for towing is a great idea… unless you enjoy living on the edge!

... or in the hedge! 😁

 The Winnie could reach 131km/h. but here in Australia, a heavy vehicle is restricted to 100km/h, so 31km/h over that would be instant loss of licence and maybe even a trip behind bars .......

The A frame hitch wouldn't allow the car to get further behind or actually plough into the back of the Winnie, I just don't want to drag the MG in constant regen and over charge the battery, the assist off the mark and up big hills would be a bonus ...... anything to reduce the 2 kms/ltr fuel consumption of the 6.8 ltr V10 would be a plus .......

I think there is no regen when in N gear, because I use this to clean up my brake rotors every now and again. Find a stretch of road, get up to speed, switch to neutral and brake (uses the friction brakes) then back to D and off I go.
Yes, in N there is no regen, but the wheels are still connected to the motor. So in theory, it isn’t possible to tow the MG4 also because the only way to keep in N is with the driver seat belt attached, but if for any reason the car goes into P while towed, it can be a problem.
