Hi all
I'm new to this forum. I've recently leased an MG ZS EV trophy connect long range in the UK. It's a 2023 model. I specifically wanted V2L for camping trips away.
Information on this is patchy at best and thankfully I found this forum. I've searched and there are lots of v2l related threads, but I'm still confused about it. I just ordered an adapter from Ebay, which isn't recognised by the car. So I ordered a more expensive adapter cable. That hasn't arrived yet. But when I messaged the first seller regarding the adapter not working, they said that it's for a 2022 model and that the 2023/4 model doesn't have V2l, which I find hard to believe. The infotainment system does have a charging and discharging screen.
Can someone please confirm definitively whether my car has, or doesn't have V2l please? If it doesn't I'll be a bit cheesed off to say the least as this was one of the main reasons I went for this car. If that's the case, it's there a work around?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Was it advertised as having V2L when you ordered it? If so, the dealership will have to exchange the inverter unit under warranty.

There are a number of people on the forum who have had it done.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

I've seen 2 different adapters on eBay for older and newer ZS - have you got the right one?
There was another post on this forum like yours, search for V2L
This is something I also need to find out about my car but it's lower on the "to-do" list ...

I leased through a leasing company, not direct to an MG dealership but I did specifically mention my wanting V2l and have an email asking the rep to confirm if the discharge cable was an included accessory. So I have an audit trail of sorts.
This morning I have actually looked at the user manual in the infotainment system in the car, rather than a download, and it does mention V2l capability, so I'm hoping the new cable will work.
Otherwise I think I warranty claim via the lease company is the route to go, given that the manual states I should have V2l.

Hi, I just got mine,Trophy Connect Long Range manufactured 10/2023 I had asked the dealer did it have Vehicle to Grid, he said no only Vehicle to Load.
When the car turned up it didnot have it.
2022 had V to L
2023 some had V to L
2024 all had V to L
MG Leeds were very good and install it for me (part and software update)
Went to Southport 24 Hour Race this weekend and powered the base camp.
I had a 10watt led (car lights were no did not need any more) some cooking (induction hob and hot air cooker). Started with 90% battery and it went down to 83% half must have been the car lights
How do you turn off the lights and lock the car?

Glad you got yours sorted easily. My battle goes on. I was helped by Luscombe Leeds MG at that's where my car is from, but they tried to pass it over to Cheshire Oaks near Chester, where I'm based. I took it in on Monday, expecting it to be sorted. Was sent away on Tuesday saying they need to get it approved. What a palarva for me.

On my 2022 ZS, the V2L worked only while the car was in ready mode. At first service, I requested the update to enable V2L to continue working with the car off and locked. Have you tried this? If V2L stops working when you turn off the car and lock it, you need another software update.

It doesn't work on my 2023, in fact when I ordered a V2L lead off the ebay, the chaps there just gave me an immediate refund saying it won't work on my 2023 SR Trophy, They must have had numerous people ordering a cable & returning it to give instant refunds.

We had the same with our 22 Trophy ? LR.
The V2L worked fine from the factory, but it would only work IF the car was in ready mode.
The lads in Chorley did a software update and now it works with the car powered down and locked.
Also if the car was on charge from our wall box and I unlocked the car, it would not release the cable.
The update fixed this also ?.
