iSmart lock out: then suddenly there's this

I've been 'locked out' of the iSmart app since June (ZS EV LR 22 plate) with 'token expired' msg leading to 'bind vehicle' on the app which is already bound and leaving me high and dry. UNTIL YESTERDAY I got a new message that promises things..

New features in the app one of which provided me with this text message, once at 18:20 last night repeated 6:20 this morning.

Vehicle Vin:LSJW******950 is being bound by j@aol.com,
and the car has entered the seventy two-(72)-hours pending period.

Apparently someone called me is using my vehicle (duh!) but after 72 hrs the bind will be forcibly broken.

Any of you who can shine a light please do!
 
Have you tried installing the app on an iPad (or any tablet?) and running it through that ? Not very convenient I know but it may kickstart it? A neighbour tried it and it seemed to work on the phone a day later having logged out on the tablet

can you re-set password via the app? Just in case

No not tried. Because the phone and bluetooth are required and because my ipad has no phone function I can't see how it would work.
 
Have you looked through previous iSmart posts? I'm sure I've seen this somewhere but can't remember if reinstalling app solved it or just logging out and in again...
Yes, all these obvious things. Not a solution. This is the 3rd time since I got the car in March 22 that the app has gone down - months - and then I get it back with no sign or explanation of what the cock up was.
 
Thanks for clarifying; I'm on Day 2 of the 72 hr forced unbinding (kind of kinky sounding) and get tex msgs every 12 hrs on the dot advising me. I'm hoping that after 72 hrs I can just rebind and get the iSmart app back. That said I've done OK without it. I mostly charge at home (95%) but in Antwerp on the public chargers I have to look at the dash and 'hours to complete' when I start charging to know when to come back and unplug.

Latest: after 10 weeks and 1 day iSmart have answered my email. there's a new app they say and I should try it. I have and I am still waiting to be forcibly unbound. HOWEVER I can still see other parts of the app and for the first time Shanghai Automotive has included FACE RECOGNITION. Now FR has transformed how apps recognise genuine users. So I am hopeful.

new app? mine is the "old" one I use since April, v. 2.0.5 and it does have bio-metric option for FR. what was the version you used?
 
Fred, you gotta understand I've been locked out of iSmart since June. But since you ask it is v 2.0.7.

i tried to update mine today and it's still on 2.0.5 .... I was abroad last week with the car parked at the airport - couldn't connect to it for the whole week and not sure why when it normally works ... poor signal or something else ...

Hope you get yours working again ?
 
I hope so too Fred12345! The iSmart app is one of the few weaknesses in the MG ZS EV cars (we're on our second, 22 plate LR). I get v few of the problems reported in the forum though I've learned the hard way the necessity for a thin spare tyre and jack, and to not expect, frankly, anything from the dealer - and the same goes for MG - I mean 10 weeks to reply to an e mail.

But she drives well, is safe with a good driving positon, can handle large loads and unlike other MG owners has v few radio problems. Just this pesky iSmart app.
 
iSmart is working again! The 72 hour period (said the working bit of the app) before forcible unbinding ended yesterday and BINGO I am back with 100% working app. But the failure of iSmart 11 weeks ago came with no warning - iSmart has failed 3 times since 2022 when I bought the car. End of story.

good news ? there is this thread with similar issues if this happens again
