Unfortunately, I have already noticed several times that the lane departure warning system reacts incorrectly. When I come onto the centre line with the wheels, the car tries to pull me into oncoming traffic, when the wheels touch the line of the hard shoulder the car tries to pull me off the road, each time I have to counter-steer to stay in my lane.

This behaviour is not entirely harmless.

That's a good question about the adjustment. As far as I know, it has to be done in every country, just like the headlights, so that you don't dazzle oncoming traffic. I live in Germany and have already read in the MG3 forum that someone has a problem with this and the user is from Israel.

I doubt this is a unique problem to MG. Lane Keep Assist is just an accident waiting to happen in my opinion. Don’t think the system undergoes enough real world testing before being considered safe, regardless of manufacturer.
I know Hyundai have Lane Keep Assist and Lane Follow Assist. The first is an audible warning and the latter is actually steering the car. I’m referring to the actual steering of the car.
Drove in Devon on holiday in a hire car that seemed to turn on by default. Can’t tell you how many times it wanted to drive the car into an oncoming tractor / camper van.

I mentioned this issue in a separate thread.
I'm in the UK.
"I've driven the car 2 months and on a few occasions noticed
1. If I do drift over a central line the lane assist seems to pull further across the line. 😲.
2. Just driving normally, well within lines, lane assist tries to correct me."

I'm taking this matter up with my dealer when they apply the PD052 update next week.

I agree. I have had the car 4 months so far, and haven't encountered any unique problems with it, even if I'd say that in "full MG pilot mode", the system seems to prefer very much the center of the lane, no matter how close a car might be on a side.
Also, like any of these systems, left over markings from previous constructions or occasionally reflective tar corrections can irritate the system, but I'd go as far as to say that the ZS is among the better systems in cheaper cars I have driven, some are truly useless.
In general I think it is very important to understand that these systems are assist at best, mostly though complying with questionable EU resp. other governmental regulations in terms of required assist systems, and certainly more optimised to work well in laboratory/EURO Ncap testing conditions (where a fail can mean no registration or at least major backlash for image) than real life.
Even much more expensive executive and luxury cars, whilst having more sophisticated systems that work better say on motorways I would can anything close to faultless in urban/country road conditions.

It is a nightmare in Cornwall and Wales. You can switch it off, but it switches itself back on every time you turn the car off. The dealer has raised it, but apparently, it is a "safety feature" (not my view!!) and there are no plans to make it user-definable.

I keep an eye on this forum because a freind is very interested in MG ZS Hybrid. After much research and test drives I ended up going for Hyundai Kona …. for precisely these sorts of reasons. Lots of shortcuts to turn off driver warnings and lane assists. Lane assist setting are remembered and don’t reset when engine is switched off. In the end, I just thought Kona would be an easier car to live with. The down side…. no heated seats, heated steering wheel, 360 camera, blind spot monitoring. I couldn’t afford those features if going Hyundai Kona. I found the MG ZS hybrid highly frustrating… because with a little bit more attention to detail, it would have probably been my preferred choice.
Things that annoyed me
1) high revs at strange moments (which I experienced during two test drives)
2) lack of adjustment in steering wheel (just daft)
3) drive assists resetting automatically
4) reflective glare on infotainment system
5) infotainment system could be higher (personal preference)
6) infotainment system could be angled to driver (personal preference)
7) sound insulation
8) fearing that after sales support would be poor.
9) lack of sound EQ (extremely annoying)
10) info screen brightness issues
there’s more……….

Many of these things are just annoying as with a little bit of extra thought…. It could be an amazing car. Admittedly, sound insulation costs… so I wouldn’t expect that to be great in a car at this price. But the other things I mentioned are just irritating and are more down to lack of attention to detail.
As I say, it frustrated me. So much of the car I really liked. But I ended up thinking … is it just the look I like? Am I being pulled in by heated seats and 360 camera and nice looking seats and……….
I struggled to give it up… but my practical head decided Kona was the better choice.
If MG stop being in such a manic rush to release new cars all the time (consequently releasing cars to market that have some major and some smaller irritating issues and upped their customer service….. they’d dominate the market. Just sort it out MG.
