Lane Keep Assist

After we have bought the car who owns it? Do we as owners have to be responsible for the NCAP rating of the manufacturer . Can we have the legal right to change something we dislike even though the powers that be disagree. Should we sell the car ,all changes should be disclosed and /or reversed with agreement of the new buyer. If I was to cut out the seatbelts of my car it would be illegal and I would be fined, and I would have to reinstate them before selling. Turning off LKA is not, and so it changing it to a turn on option (default) would also not be illegal. Its not beyond any manufacturer to have available software should the owner request it to change these settings ( probably at a price ) to what the " valued " customer requires. I do not see it long before there are 3rd party programmers who will be offering this service , but no doubt the cartels will be saying ,warranty violated ,

It already exists for some makes. Check out OBDEleven:

Yes, it isn't just MG but all manufacturers wanting to get the highest ratings nees LKA to be enabled each time the car is started.

However, they can make it easier to disable (eg a single button) and can make it benign so we don't get these kinds of issues. Most manufacturers with the same kit (all comes from 3rd parties) get it right first time, so MG need to do better.

AEB is a bit different, many makes suffer with false positives, but again it sounds from reports as if the MG4 has a higher incidence of false positives than most.
Yep agree 100%.I had a peugeot e208 it had a button to switch it on or off

One of the more frustrating aspects off the MG 4, 2 years in and they are finally managing to tone it down.
I have owned 3 different EVs and driven a good few more and MGs safety systems are the roughest (for want of a better term) I have ever come across. VAG are good, polestars are good, Renaults are really good and they also still have a physical button on the side of the dash, like the Peugeot you mention

MG3 Trophy: comfortable, reasonably priced car but as others have said, technology is too complex. Have bought a manual but few diagrams in this to recognise which options to take....
