MG4 Lane keep assist

Well, that's what I have, and there is indeed a sensitivity setting, but I thought that was a setting to change not the strength of steering reaction but to change how the car sees the white lines.

So...
Keep the assist on (top slider) and change the assist mode to alert, turn off the audible, leave the vibrate on (if you want, although you might be able to turn vibrate off too) and set the alert sensitivity to low?
Then turn it off and on again and see if the settings remain

Thanks to you all for taking the time to respond to my question about LKA sensitivity. So it seems that there is the facility to vary the setting which is good.

I've always asserted that LKA on our MG4 stays off as other than day 1, I've never had a peep from it and never set it / turned it off - it just doesn't feature in our driving of the car. I've always been a little confused that there is often and inactive (not green) steering wheel in the top left of the drivers display which counters my theory that it's off but as it doesn't bother us I've just ignored this.

Sense the BUT? After reading this or similar threads in the past I've gone and had a look, twice from memory, and each time I've found LKA on. But still it NEVER intervenes and we've done 2,500 miles or so.

I wonder if I've just accidentally stumbled on the Goldilocks settings? Below is our settings and they are persistent, I NEVER have to fiddle and NEVER have a problem. Key is that LKA is set to Alert with low sensitivity BUT Auditable and Vibration are turned off - and no there is no visual message either if I drift. I don't always indicate (if the road is empty), so not that.

LKA isn't broken as I did feel it for the first time two days ago when in traffic and experimented with TJA and that not only controlled the speed but also 'assisted' to keep in lane. BTW this feature looks promising but I hardly ever see traffic jams.

The car was collected in October so probably first batch, had the oil breather upgrade mid November and all pending software upgrades available at that point. It's unfortunate that we cannot list for ourselves the SW revisions of all the ECUs, so I can't be specific there.

I've rcvd the lock in recall letter and will be watchful of any change of behaviour after.

Be interested to see if these settings help any 'sufferers'.

Edit: - woke the car up and below are the LKA settings it powers up with for me. Effectively no LKA

The settings don’t remain, on my car

Ditto on mine. See post #81. That's the settings every time the car is powered up.
Is yours a Trophy? Mine seems to have three modes now: Emergency Lane Keeping, Lane Keep Assist and Alert. This is from memory looking at it last night, I’ll confirm with a pic when I get in the car at 17:15 ish

Of the settings being back at default every time I get in the car?
It was just to confirm what you said above, yours and Slouchers are the same, Devons is a different version :( (You both have default returning to emergency lane keeping and moderate , with audible and vibrate).

My LKA stayed off until Monday when they applied the latest update. The release notes for the update stated that the settings would revert to default on every restart and I can confirm they do. If I had known this beforehand I would have declined the update.

Yes, it's a Trophy. Was told it had the latest set of software updates, and seeing some of the observations on here, I think that's true.

If I remember correctly, the LKA on the ZS EV Gen 1 defaulted to ON each time the car was booted.
If you pressed the button on the end of the left hand column stork, it would disable it until the car was closed down.
If you wanted it turned OFF completely, it could be disabled in the head unit.
The same applies in the Gen2 facelift version.
It was defaulted to ON when we collected the car in March 2022.
It was a 100 mile trip home, I soon got feed up of it pulling me around, so I turned it OFF.
It has been this way ever since !.
Never been a big fan of these type of, so called driver aid’s.
Had cruise control / automatic cruse on ever one of my cars over the last 20+ years.
Don’t like them, never used them !.
It’s a personal thing I know, but sometimes it’s just nice to drive MY car myself.
Here iIt is turned OFF on our ZS EV LR Trophy facelift model.

Will it remember the setting if it's changed to "alert"?

I could live with a bong but I don't want it to steer or vibrate the wheel.
Mine is remembering the settings. I've just tried a variety of settings as I'm doing lots of hops and stops and it has kept them at each restart. I'd better enjoy it while I can before an update changes things!

I’ll keep wittering on about this - where does it say it’s mandatory to default on after each start and why can it be turned off if it’s so important?
Also, if it is a requirement to default to on, all the cars sold that don’t have that shouldn’t have the NCAP rating should they?

If the update does not contain any other features that are totally necessary, then don’t have it done !.
Ask the dealer to print you off a list of what is contained within that update first !.
I am struggling to understand why two cars from the same manufacturer, why some can be turned OFF and some can not, when the NCAP rating is the same on both cars ??.
Why bother including a section button in the head unit in the first place, if the driver is not permitted to disable the feature ???.
It makes no sense at all to me ???.

Because the vehicles have different software installed I would imagine

Mine too. It was more aimed at the people for whom it is not remembering the settings. I'm trying to find a solution should MG screw up my car whilst it's in for the recall.

I have just picked up my new MG4 SE SR and they did 9 software updates as well as the PDI and list of checks I wanted carried out. Most of which I got of this forum. Thanks.
One of the updates been the LKA to make it less aggressive, which I noticed when doing my two test drives Months ago.
Driving home just now I kept the LKA on. Drove between the white lines on a dual carriageway with the indicator off and I felt no aggressI’ve pulling at all. hopefully it will stay that way. ?
