Lane keeping assist

It might be interesting to know if you have R59 installed. It refers to the entertainment system, but it can come with several other module updates. Here is link to find which one you have:post in thread 'MG4 Software Update Thread' MG4 Software Update Thread

Can you check yours?
I still have Trophy R30 entertainment system version  but I know the underlying software has been updated as the traction control speed adjuster now moves by 1mph instead of 5mph jumps.

More or less the same experience here.
I have r46 but updates have been coming twice now and it does have an effect on the useability of the car. With the last one LKA modes look like a touch better. But ACC has gone a step backwards. Now, any type of vehicle in front of you in the same lane (before this was mainly trucks) that you are going to overtake causes the car to continue reducing speed, even when you have already moved to the next lane. On top of that, if I'm in the second lane already, it acts like it is scared to pass slower traffic in the lane next to you. It drops in speed before you actually pass them...

Yesterday my LKA was still active and when I had the indicator on and moving lanes, I think the system is active i.e. the icon in the driver screen top left is green then even if you put your indicator on it remains engaged, and when I say engaged I means it already controlling the steering.

Was a bit shocked, but the LKA system has been toned down so much now it was easy to override. I just need to remember to indicate before doing any sort of manouvre :D

FWIW I've been leaving LKA on for most of the time without any real issues. It sounds counterintuitive but I actually find the Moderate sensitivity better than Low or High. (My guess is that LKA was design tuned for Moderate so it reacts more predictably with that setting).

TJA on the other hand ..... horrible, and seems worse since the last updates I had back in November. Thankfully I prefer to steer myself anyway so favour using ACC over TJA. :)

Correct Jeff.
You look over your shoulders and there is nobody? Do not steer and try to put the indicator on at the same time because it will counter steer. This now also happens in lane departure assist mode with high sensitivity. When you lower sensitivity it tends to be more forgiving.
If you write 'my LKA', is that in ELK mode?

Just drove a rented Hyundai Tucson diesel during my holiday and now I can honestly say the the MG4 Trophy / Luxury ACC, TJA and LKA truly truly SUCK (please pardon my English).

For the IT minded people here it feels like Windows Vista vs Windows 10/11.

The MG4 software is very lets say rude in how it operates vs being very gentle on the Hyundai Tucson.

MG4 really feels like a driving instructor pulling at the wheel or hitting the brakes, while the Tuscon gently assisted.

Goods news is that there is at least room for improvement ?

As I posted elsewhere, since the updates I got last November I have been using LKA (SE implementation; Trophy has more functionality) but with sensitivity set to Moderate and it has seemed much better. Given that Moderate is the default setting when you first get the car, I wonder whether LKA has been tuned during development for that setting and so works better with it vs High or Low. ?‍♂️

How old was that Tuscon? Older system were less agressive in corrections anyway. Are you comparing the Tuscon lka with Mg's ELK mode, or LDA?

I’ve had my UK SR LR a couple of months now. At first I always turned LKA off but recently I've not been bothering, just got in the car and driven it. I think that the mg4 has improved my driving! I now position the car more centrally in the lane and rarely get an audible warning or nudge from the steering, mainly when roads are wet. Because of the poor state of England’s roads, particularly the narrow ones, i think I’d developed a tendency to drive closer to the middle of the road, perhaps 1 foot from the centre. So well done MG4!
Also occasionally I had a warning of emergency braking when approaching a stationary or slow vehicle, so I’ve reduced my approach speed a little and leave a larger gap, no problems since. ?
